Writing about O’Brien’s book I wrote (behind O’Brien) that U.S. abroad policy was 1 large stupidity and Obama was no better than Trump. At the time, she was very outraged (and most likely frazzled) by a commonautic individual who was violated by the spiritual sentiments of obmolarism.
U.S. abroad policy deserves a note. I will appeal here to the many books I have read. No formal footnotes, due to the fact that I can't remember what I read 35 years ago.
Preferably in Cold War America Wittner, I read that McCarthy's cleansing was the origin of evil. Their side effect was to expel people who knew abroad languages and cultures from diplomacy. American diplomacy blinded them as a result, hence the mistake repeated from Vietnam to Iran. They're inactive packing for any country they don't know about. And each time they are just as amazed that they did not welcome them here with flowers, and there they did not overthrow the government on the Hopaj-siup.
It's cross-party. Bipartisan besides crosses the aisle. Republican diplomacy is simply a series of failures, but democratic is simply a pile of stupid. However, they believed in Putin's good intentions.
Obama inherited from Bush in 2009 a younger and dumber abroad policy in a state of decline. In 2001, Bush doesn't know why the hell he attacked Afghanistan and in 2003 Iraq. Officially, it was about catching Bin Laden and the overthrow of Saddam. Bush's first failed, the second partially, due to the fact that there was no thought what to do next. The classical “we won the first half of the match”.
America (with unfortunate allies) was drawn into the senseless “forever wars”. Obama won by promising to end it. It came out just like Trump ended the war in Ukraine in 24 hours.
Meanwhile, Putin utilized America's weakness to counteroffensive. He was no longer the trapdoor he was faking in the early century. In 2007, he appeared at a conference in Munich and in 2008 at the NATO Summit in Bucharest.
In retrospect, the second was possibly even more important. Speech from Munich is quoted until today, due to the fact that Putin there openly attacked the US. It's little talked about in 2008, but Putin behaved more rudely. He was invited to finish, but unexpectedly appeared on the first day to smash this summit. It was an crucial signal to mark further intentions.
This is all for Bush. But what does Obama say? And Obama looked good in a suit.
Russia proposed an infamous "reset", which was a misreading of the signals from 2007-2008. past will measure (it already evaluates) Obama as the 1 who out of stupidity provoked an invasion of Ukraine in 2014, like Daladier and Chamberlain in 1938.
He didn't do much better about Afghanistan. After the election, it turned out he didn't know what to do. He worked on a solution with his best tailors until June 2011, erstwhile he announced the plan. What's that? Send quite a few troops (the alleged "surge") in mid-2012 to finish off all the disgusting.
Patus hitting a jabol on a bench would have come up with a better plan than a sweat. He would be wise adequate not to announce to his enemies: “Boys, we want to send to you next year from the cholera war, as if you wanted to strengthen something in the meantime or mine it cool, you will have time.”
He even left Iraq without specified a plan, leaving the mess worse that the muslim State, another illegitimate kid of the United States, was raging in the region. They encouraged the “Arab Spring”, but left rebels to the tyrannical, like now in Iran. As a result, either the power was won by individual even worse or the war started by everyone. Thank you, Mr. Obama.
In Syria, it hit stone bottom. In 2012, Obama designated chemical weapons as a "red line". Asad crossed it in 2013. What about Obama? He inactive looked good in his suit.
Threaten intervention and do nothing – it is the same level of stupidity as Trump's ultimatums. “48 hours! 2 weeks! 5 days!’ Let's give it back to St. Barack's Church – in fact Trump dresses worse (these ties!).
Obama found the mess – and left the mess. Trump inherited Russian from him in Ukraine, Americans inactive (!) in Afghanistan, NATO in a mess, muslim state in Syria and Iraq, no 1 knows what in Libya, Iran with access to the Mediterranean. And Putin in an attack, exulted with a "reset".
Of course, Trump screwed up everything he touched, too. But unfortunately it is not that between him and Bush for 8 years the U.S. abroad policy (there is only a note about that, about interior discussion elsewhere) was in the hands of the competent people. In American politics, erstwhile individual speaks Arabic, Chinese or Ukrainian, it makes his career difficult. As in Michael Bay's thriller, this makes him a fishy (“ derka derka derk”).
