Wojtek Gavenda is not only a well-known cabaret artist, actor, songwriter and singer, but besides a man with a very rich résumé for whom there are no impossible things. 1 of his challenges was to run an art school in Canada for both Polish-speaking and English-speaking young artists.
Running a school is an highly crucial and liable job. The decisions made by the board have a immense impact on the future of respective 100 students, which requires large determination and awareness. However, if we work well, education can bring large benefits. It is said for a reason that education is the basis, due to the fact that school as an institution has a immense influence on the improvement of young minds.
Artist Director
Wojtek Gavenda has been active with the phase his full life. Therefore, it should not be amazing that while on emigration and dealing with Polonia there, he decided to aid them make their artistic dreams. For 15 years he shared his cognition with young artists and raised full generations of artists.
The decision to start a school, as usual in life, was decided by chance. 1 day I received an offer from a Polish female to buy an existing music school. The school was doing large and the owner wanted to leave her in the hands of individual who would take good care of her. I immediately saw an chance in it, and without hesitation I bought the school and took control of it. The school was bilingual, classes were conducted in Polish and English, but with more emphasis on the second language because, as we know, music terminology in this part of the continent requires English – says the artist.
Specificity of the school
Art school is an educational facility like any other, but with its own specificity. It is simply a school where real artists teach young aspiring people how to discover and make their talents. Learning to sing, dance, or act looks completely different than learning mathematics, physics or history, which doesn't mean they request little work. On the contrary, grinding artistic skills requires much more determination and enthusiasm.
The school was active in educating children from an early age. We besides taught older children and teenagers at school. Interestingly, adults attended school. Parents of children who in their spare moments fulfilled their childhood dreams of learning and developing artistic skills. The school, before I owned it, was primarily a music school. Since I am an actor with passion and a bit of education, I decided to grow my activities and add additional directions: Studio of Drawing and Painting, Studio of Dance and of course Studio of Vocal and Theatre. The last 1 was my eye. Classes on this profile were conducted only in Polish, and performances or musicals exhibited were besides in Polish. We invested in an intimate scene with professional equipment, so that children could feel like on a real phase on which they actually presented professional performances – this is Wojciech Gavenda.
Development and success
Each school has to accomplish any results, so it is crucial for the school that students have a chance to show themselves. An crucial component of building the prestige of art school is, for example, the student's triumph in the competition or festival, making the school increasingly recognisable on the marketplace of artistic education. As you know, the measurement of the school is its effects.
We had no problems attracting students due to the fact that my school was very fortunate with teachers who taught truly high-level classes. These were outstanding pedagogues, having a higher education in music. Additionally, most of them were besides excellent artists who were successful. specified an example was the teacher, who not only graduated from the Academy of Music in Warsaw and performed there at the National Theatre or Roma, but besides graduated from the Academy of Music here in Canada. Her students regularly won competitions and won awards. All the teachers were truly good, I had nothing to complain about. I enjoyed all cooperation with them and admired their achievements for 15 years. I remember this period with quite a few heat. Students who participated in classes in the Vocal and Theatre Studies had the chance to grind Polish language, learn Polish literature, art and thus began operating in excellent Polish, losing the Canadian accent. We raised a full generation of artists. present they are adults, and with any I inactive keep in contact as part of our cabaret cabaret activity “Under the Bubble”, where together we inactive fulfill our artistic dreams.
