Today, at the gathering of the parliamentary anti-law team, “Safe Poland”, the team's vice-president and PiS MP Marcin Warchoł reported that Law and Justice had submitted a announcement to the prosecutor on the financing of the presidential run of Rafał Trzaskowski, candidate for the civilian Coalition.
— The announcement concerns 2 cases: the illegal activities of the Action Democracy Foundation involving interference in the election run by consciously spreading false information and illegal financing of the Rafał Trzaskowski campaign," Warchol said.
According to MP PiS, the Trzask run violated at least 3 articles of the Electoral Code. Among another things, there is simply a deficiency of designation of the electoral committee on electoral materials and the adoption of illegal non-monetary benefits.
— We anticipate PKW to challenge the election committee study by Rafał Trzaskowski in the future," Warchoł added.
Mr Cezary Tomczyk of the Trzaskovsky staff referred to the case, which there is no uncertainty that the actions of the Law and Justice are intended simply to harm the opposition candidate.
— I have no uncertainty that a broad action is taking place to discredit Rafał Trzaskowski. What PiS does is simply a lie, as usual," commented Tomczyk.
In consequence to PiS actions, the Civic Coalition besides referred the case to the D.A. The reason was mass sending messages defaming Trzaskovsky.
— Within 48 hours many provinces received tens of thousands of SMS messages with false information. There are only 2 options: either Russia is behind it or 1 of the rival committees, said Tomczyk.
The controversy surrounding the run besides deepened NASK's information about possible abroad interference. NASK indicated that any advertising accounts on Facebook, promoting Trzaskowski and attacking his competitors (Karola Nawrocki and Sławomir Mentzen), could spend more than authoritative election committees.
Virtual Poland reported in turn that volunteers and worker of the Action Democracy Foundation were to be behind these advertisements. Advertising has been blocked under the actions of the Electoral Parasol initiative. Meta (the owner of Facebook) nevertheless denied that the blockades were the consequence of NASK pressures.
In the background of the full case, there is besides the subject of impersonating the Civic Platform in the SMS campaign.
— It is illegal to run outside the authoritative committee and impersonate PO. We reported the case to NASK and the D.A.’s office, wrote on platform X Chief of Staff KO Wioletta Paprocka.
The case is temporing and may prove crucial in assessing the integrity of the election campaign. Both PiS and KO accuse each another of manipulation, forgery and illegal financing. In this atmosphere it is hard to talk about the peaceful course of the campaign. All indications are that the election fight moves from the streets and the media to the courts and state institutions.
