Given the nature of the Second Vatican Council as a fresh beginning for the Church, opposition to it, especially opposition to the fresh liturgy, carries a large intellectual burden in the next conclave – this is the opinion expressed by Prof. Peter Zaczniewski on the blog Rorate Caeli.
Prof. Ludniewski published an analysis in which he argues that for conservative cardinals during the next conclave, the attitude towards the Holy Mass of the All-Times will be 1 of the factors for assessing the “state of head of the individual they can vote for”.
Importantly, this criterion is attributed not only to conservative hierarchs, but besides to all those who do not execute conventional Mass but consider it pointless to fight it.
In this context, Lutniewski cites the opinion of the Italian writer dealing with ecclesiastical topics, Nico Skuntoni, who critically evaluates the right hand of Francis – Cardinal Pietro Parolin. It is Parolin who is considered to be 1 of the possible successors of the incumbent Pope. He is simply a mediocre diplomat, according to the Buntoni, since he has not decided to "bury" the papers that are asumptary to the persecution of communities connected with the conventional liturgy in which he played an crucial role.
In any case, it is perfectly understandable that the pre-sobor lex credendi is simply a thorn in the body of the post-sobor church built entirely on the Second Vatican Council – emphasises Prof. Zacniewski, pointing out that this origin is beginning to play an expanding function in the context of reasoning about the next pope.
In the face of Pope Francis, there is expanding opposition among the faithful, besides in the... planet of culture. As we erstwhile faced in England with the alleged Agatha Christie indult (created as a consequence of the protest of artists), so besides Ludniewski talks about a akin appeal to the Bishop of Rome.
This can be seen in a letter published in The Times asking the Pope not to cancel the Latin Mass, signed by personalities specified as erstwhile Minister Michael Gove, erstwhile model and erstwhile wife of the Rolling Stones leader Bianca Jagger, pianist Mitsuko Uchida, entrepreneur Rocco Forte, various lords and princesses and others. A fewer hours ago, besides from England, another initiative was initiated by composer James MacMillan, who launched a petition asking the Pope not to preach the Latin Mass. In a short time, the petition, which is on Change.org and can be signed worldwide, exceeded 5,000 signatures – reads in Rorate Caeli.
In fact, the author believes that Parolin's shameful function in the repression of the environments associated with the Mass of the All-Times will consequence in his candidacy being "burned".
If a complete ban on the liturgy of Pope Roncalle's Mass of 1962 is issued, it cannot be excluded that the effects of further polarization in the Church will be resonated on another conclave and will hinder the favourite to become John XXIV – concludes Prof. Peter Zacniewski.
