Statement by the All-Polish Youth on the proposed changes to the education system

narodowcy.net 1 year ago
Youth of All Poland expresses strong opposition to the proposed changes in education, which are grossly threatening the construction of Polish national identity among the youngest generations, and distort the cognition of children and youth about Poland, our culture and history.
The draft changes seem prepared without a deeper knowing of the objectives of education, aimed at promoting ideological trends. The proposed improvement under the mantle of the right call for a "weaning of the programming base" is actually intended to search to blur the national identity and to cut the modern man off from the pillars of Latin civilization. It is peculiarly alarming to hear the introduction to the basic curriculum from the past of primary school, which completely abandons expressions of national identity in favour of the slogan on civic attitude and respect for the state without a precise definition of which you are referring.
The effect of these actions is seen in the concrete changes proposed, which can be mentioned, at least the most shocking examples: the negation of examples of the heroism of the Polish nation during the Second planet War, including the past of helping Jews. In addition, the removal of prominent figures specified as Rotmaster Pilecki and O. Kolbe, the further denunciation of opposition of the Cursed Soldiers, the negation of the influence of John Paul II on contemporary history, or the restoration of independency to Józef Piłsudski himself.
We consider the changes concerning the hecatomb of the Polish population in the areas of Volyn and east Małopolska to be highly scandalous, with the spirit of political correctness. Bringing these events to "local conflict", giving up speaking straight about genocide, is even spitting in the face of victims of Ukrainian savagery, who, despite over 80 years, are inactive waiting for a worthy burial and appropriate commemoration.
We consider equally unacceptable changes in the programming basis for learning Polish. The primary function of this subject MUST be to educate young generations in the spirit of Polish culture. due to the fact that it is, culture is the content that fills the life of all nation. Meanwhile, the programme base is to be removed or, at best, limited only to fragments specified as “Mr Tadeusz”, “Reduta Ordon”, “Konrad Wallenrod”, “From the Diary of Sophia Bobrówna”, “Guys” or “Quo Vadis”, and there is besides the deletion of selected works by Norwid, Herbert or Tadeusz Gajcy. Many of these works and authors have contributed greatly to shaping the present, modern form of the Polish nation, or to its continuation during hard times. They service as a fundamental function for the Polish national identity and must not be allowed to reject them, which aims to educate young Poles in the top possible separation from national identity.
The young people of All Poland are urging the Minister Barbara Nowacka to think profoundly and retreat from most of the proposed changes. We call for support of real education, based on wisdom, Polish culture and historical knowledge, so as to educate the youngest truly Polish patriotic spirit. Finally, we call for a real, reasonable public consultation, not a last-minute consultation. Children are the future of our nation, they deserve seriously thoughtful reforms, not ideological incarnations!
Finally, for the Minister, we leave a message from Zbigniew Herbert's poem that has just been struck out: "(...) look in the mirror at your foolish face, repeat: I was called, was it not better?"
