Donald Tusk declared that Poland would formally make efforts to organize the Olympic Games. He added that the real position we can talk about, given the preliminary decisions, commitments, declarations of the MKOL, was 2040 or 2044. The thought was criticised by erstwhile PiS spokesperson Piotr Müller.
The leader of the Warsaw Government during the Friday press conference on the Orlik field in Karczew (Mazowieckie province) announced Poland's efforts to organize the Olympic Games. – A real perspective, given the already preliminary decisions, commitments, declarations of the global Olympic Committee, is 2040 or 2044 said the Prime Minister.
He argued that Poland has no reason for any complexes. He pointed out that the organisation of Euro 2012 in Poland is inactive mentioned by European partners as an organizational foreman. He added that, among another things, we appreciated the fact that "we went along with highways, airports, stadiums, and in many places we started from scratch".
Minister of athletics Sławomir Nitras assured that Poland was able to conduct the Olympics from the organizational side. – It takes infrastructure, but we already have quite a few things. He said. He announced that in November he intends to present the fresh strategy for the improvement of Polish sport. He added that it was to be a strategy by 2040, with a view to preparing for the organisation of the Olympic Games in Poland.
– I hope that the winter, the spring of next year, will be spent on a serious discussion with the sports community, how to guarantee that the games in Poland take place, are a success and a flywheel not only for sport, but for the full of Poland, as happened with Euro 2012 said the Minister of Sport.
He pointed out that the Euro 2012 organization in Poland was a large civilizational project. – Games can be an even bigger civilizational project, but we just gotta get ready for it. Nitras assessed.
The Prime Minister noted that there are formal recommendations from the global Olympic Committee, which require institutions specified as the Polish Olympic Committee to be full transparent, to make public the accounts. He pointed out that the atmosphere, that this information is secret, is devastating for the morale of Polish sport.
– This has to end. If we check all possible irregularities, we already do. National taxation Administration, another services will anyway ruthlessly account for all gold spent sports activists, sports unions and the Polish Olympic Committee – assured the head of government.
Mr Piotr Müller and erstwhile spokesperson for the organization commented on the matter. The thought of organizing the games is, in his opinion, to proceed the announcements of the PiS government and president Andrzej Duda. In his opinion, Prime Minister Donald Tusk's confirmation of further efforts in this area is in contrast to the erstwhile statements by PO politicians about megalomania in investments.
– However, today's confirmation of further efforts in this area is in line with earlier statements by the Civic Platform on megalomaniacs in investments or events – he said.
