Unknown perpetrators one more time painted the Red Spray with a monument to the Liberation of Warmia-Mazury Land known in Olsztyn as “shubienice”. City Hall said he'd be stripped.

The red spray may have occurred between August 11 and 18. A image of the gallows on which the sickle and the hammer are suspended appeared on the side of the monument, the inscription “once in August, erstwhile in a hammer, red rumble”. On the steps of the platform various slogans were written, among others "the glory of the large Poland".

The monument contains elements referring to the “library” of erstwhile East Prussia by the Red Army, including the aircraft, tank or soldier figure. He utilized to have a sickle and a hammer on his hat, but these symbols were sanded. The presence of a communist monument in urban space has for years sparked legitimate opposition. In the past, the monument was covered with inscriptions and covered with red paint. Not all of these harm was removed.

Due to the form – the alleged open triumphal arch – the monument is called gallows in the city. Its demolitions have been demanded by the IPN for years, and the erstwhile Warmia-Masurian voivode from PiS and right-wing environments has besides opted for this. Their actions led to the removal of the monument from the registry of monuments.

Recently, the Olsztyn authorities announced that the monument in its present form would cease to exist. Elements of the monument can be used, as the town hall announces, erstwhile creating a fresh look of the square.
