Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who pays a visit to the US, met with Elon Musk and another crucial advisers to president Donald Trump. The talks included a truce in Gaza. Hamas confirmed on Tuesday that negotiations for the second phase of this agreement had begun.
Trump Netanjahu himself will meet on Tuesday night. According to the announcements, leaders will discuss, among others, the truce in the Gaza Strip and the anticipation of an agreement normalising relations between Israel and Saudi Arabia.
On the night of Monday on Tuesday, Netanjahu spoke, among others, to Trump's advisors for mediate East and National Security, Steve Witkoff and Mike Waltz.
Following the meeting, the Prime Minister's office reported that this week, an Israeli delegation would go to Qatar Doha to negociate a second phase of the truce in the Gaza Strip. According to erstwhile reports, Netanjah's conversation with Witkoff was to be the beginning of agreeing on the terms of the second phase of the agreement.
Hamas confirmed the beginning of negotiations on the second phase of the truce on Tuesday. The negotiations between Hamas and Israel are held through the US, Egypt and Qatar.
On January 19, the battles between Israel and Hamas were halted in the Gaza Strip after more than 15 months of war. The first phase of the truce is due to take place until the beginning of March and includes, among others, the release of parts kidnapped by Hamas hostages and the gradual withdrawal of Israelis from the Gaza Strip.
The second phase assumes a permanent truce, the release of all surviving hostages and the complete exit of the Gaza Strip by the occupier's troops, but the exact conditions are yet to be negotiated.
However, the possible of the second part of the truce entering into force is uncertain. The U.S. and another mediators are pushing for its conclusion.
A large part of Israeli public opinion is besides in favour of extending the ceasefire, seeing in peculiar the chance of the inactive imprisoned by Hamas Israelis kidnapped on 7 October 2023.
Netanyahu, however, is under force from far-right coalitions who refuse to extend the truce and want to resume fighting. Supporters of the continuation of the war argue that Hamas has been importantly weakened, but inactive controls the Gaza Strip, which Israel cannot agree to.
According to the media, on Monday night on Tuesday Netanjahu besides met with Elon Musk. The conversation afraid Israeli-American cooperation in the field of artificial intelligence, which was communicated by Ynet.
The diary ‘Haarec’ recalled that Netanyahu in a fresh social media entry defended Musk after he made a motion interpreted by any as a Roman salute during 1 of the events accompanying Trump's inauguration. Musk is “falsely slandered” – the Israeli Prime Minister wrote at the time.
