At the end of the 4th fourth of 2024, Poland's abroad debt amounted to EUR 440.91 billion, an increase compared to EUR 418.08 billion previously recorded and EUR 387.95 billion at the end of the 4th fourth of 2023.
Foreign debt of the government sector increased to EUR 132.08 billion over this period from EUR 118.98 billion in the erstwhile quarter, exceeding EUR 105.08 billion recorded the year before.
It is worth noting that the current account had a surplus of EUR 723 million in the 4th fourth of 2024, compared to EUR 3 930 million in the 4th before and EUR 3 246 million in the surplus in the 3rd 4th of the erstwhile year.
Despite the increase in abroad debt, Poland maintains a comparatively unchangeable current account position. However, the projections for 2025 indicate a possible current account deficit of 1.3% of GDP, which may propose the request for monitoring and possible adjustment of the country's fiscal and commercial policies.
