Protests and legal actions of pro-family organizations caused that "Salon Désir d’enfant" (the alleged children's fair), which since 2020 has made itself at home in Paris, not only had to change the place of his "exhibition", but besides to limit the proposals that were inactive in force in France. The name has besides been changed and the “pleasance” of having a kid has been made “wanted” to have it (“Wish for a Baby Paris 2024”). There is besides a criminal investigation against the organizers.
This unethical "salons" exhibitors include global procreation-assisted companies, agencies, clinics and intermediaries. akin "tenders" have been held in Germany for 7 years, with Brussels, Amsterdam and Milan targeting this fresh form of business. The aim is to contact clients wishing to have children with companies offering, among others, in vitro, e.g. selection of genetic characteristics from catalogues, adoptions, donation of semen and ova, but besides "substitution parenting" (GPA), i.e. hiring surrogates for the birth of children besides to single people or alleged monosexual couples.
This year in Paris due to opposition from family-friendly organizations, organizers have not officially presented GPA offers, which are inactive legally prohibited in France. They besides changed their name, which was besides hedonistic, from “Désir d’enfant” to “Wish for a Baby” and advertised the slogan “parenthood and fertility”. The surviving area was held in Espace Charenton in the 12th territory of Paris on 28 and 29 September 2024. The event was accompanied for 2 days by protests of life defenders and family-friendly organizations.
The organizers advertised rather mostly the presentation of “treatment” methods, “a bid for egg donation”, “a gathering with global experts” and association with fertility companies.

For years, however, pro-family organisations have shown that this kind of "tender" is simply a "warding" and "trading" of motherhood. This is about "gamets trade and embryos, but besides eugenic practices" (sex selection, genetic heritage selection, etc.), in vitro for alleged transgenders, and hiring women to have children, including alleged homosexual couples, including an "offer" to indicate the legal way for adoption.
The Association of Children's Lawyers submitted villages to the Prefecture for a ban on the "Wish for baby" fair, but the Paris administrative court rejected the complaint. The Association of "Manif pour Tous" and "Family Syndicate" pointed to the ongoing links between trade fairs and companies offering alleged "substitution" (GPA), which is illegal practice in France. Indeed, the GPA is not publically exposed, but the relation with companies promoting these practices is real, and the movie from the 2023 Salon edition shows that hiring women to bear children is inactive a practice offered there, although a small “under the table”.
In this case, members of the Union of Families presented papers concerning the "marketing of GPA" to the prosecution and even led to the initiation of an authoritative investigation. It can besides do so under EU insurance in Spain or Belgium. In fact, it is about another "services" and practices in France legally prohibited. However, the administrative court closed its eyes to the hypocrisy of the organizers.
Family-friendly activists have been organizing pickets from the beginning of these "tenders" to make the visitors aware of the inethicality of the Salon, the violation of the law and human dignity, and the usage of commercial methods around the gift of motherhood. They indicate that GPA is simply a ‘form of human trafficking’. The authorities here show 1 relativism. In 2023, the prosecution investigated, which lasted 12 months, even collected evidence of illegal practices of the "Salon", but since then the courts have not made any movement. The profamily Le Syndicat de la Famille continues to collect and paper the presence at the Fair of illegal practices and announces further complaints.
Action under the motto – “Let's drive out the human traffickers from France” has caused the Salon “Désir d’enfant”, and now “Wish for a Baby” has not gained momentum and is controversial even in authoritative media. He besides had to decision from the prestigious Espace Champerret to Espace Charenton. The aim of family-based organisations is to guarantee that organizers definitely abandon their activities in France. The household Association notes that if the “resistance stops, specified immoral offers will shortly spill throughout France”. For now, “maternity traders” have “under the hill” in Paris.
