"President Andrzej Duda calls on Georgia's government to perceive to citizens' voices and retreat from decisions contrary to their will", stressed the NRP, informing of president Andrzej Duda's Saturday telephone conversation with president Salome Zurabishvili of Georgia. "Georgia is in a united Europe", noted.

During the interview, president Zurabiszvili, as stated by the President's Office, presented the situation in Georgia after a fresh decision by the government to suspend accession negotiations with the European Union completely by 2028. In addition, she described the ongoing 2 days of grassroots and spontaneous social protests, and expressed "very deep concern at the possible of increased tensions, interior escalation of conflict and serious constitutional crisis in Georgia".

"President Andrzej Duda has consistently supported the long-standing efforts of the Georgian people to be part of the European Union. This nonsubjective is enshrined in the Georgia Constitution and, according to all studies, is supported by the vast majority of Georgian society," noted the law firm.

"The decision of the Government in Tbilisi to halt accession negotiations completely and in fact to frost relations with the EU is simply a painful blow to these efforts and is causing very serious harm to both Georgia and the European Union. This extremist movement, which is clearly in Russia's interest, is in conflict with Georgian Dream's pre-election declarations and so bears the mark of electoral fraud," she added.

The NRP besides pointed out that this led to a thorough examination of all doubts about the conduct of the parliamentary elections in Georgia on 26 October.

"The unprecedented scale of current demonstrations, as well as the public opposition of many representatives of the Georgian administration, demonstrates deep disappointment and concern by the decision of the government in Georgian society, but besides large determination to return to the way of integration with the European Union. At the same time, the media reports on brutality in suppression of protests and the threat of bloodshed rise large concerns about the future course of Georgia," added.

"Therefore, president Andrzej Duda calls on the Georgian government to be average and considerate, to perceive to the voice of citizens and to retreat from decisions contrary to their will, to be open to explain all the doubts about the fresh parliamentary elections and to be ready to compose fresh elections, free from any uncertainty or suspicion," summarised in the President's Chancellery.

In Georgia, mass demonstrations have been underway since Thursday against the government, which announced the suspension of talks on accession to the EU by 2028. Protesters are supported by pro-Western Zurabishvili, who accused the government of declaring war on its own nation. On Saturday evening, Zurabishvili stated that she would stay in office until the legal parliament elected her successor. Georgia's leader and opposition did not recognise the results of the 26 October parliamentary elections, which were seen as a referendum on Georgia's accession to the European Union. The election – according to authoritative data – was won by the Georgian Dream party.
