Marcin Drewicz: IN THE RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE EDUCATION MP: Should Poland have the fullness of the West?
Complex? As we realize it: so called inferiority complexes or inferiority. It may have been somehow, but necessarily conditionally, justified in the times of the Polish People's Republic, for apparent reasons; and it may have besides active many another nations on the east russian side of the "iron curtain". We want to be on the incorrect side of the “iron curtain”, where we are allowed to stay – and hence the inferiority complex is ready. These cases were most accurately included in the alleged actual song, in independent cabarets and in jokes, “sad-joyed but true”.
"The Lord tells me to go on foot, and they are going there in the West ... cars (sic!)" – said the associate of a certain not cabaret tv debate in PRL.
The remnant of the Polish People's Republic is the supposedly low self-esteem of Poles. But... it was more frequently spoken of a long time ago, due to the fact that at the turn of the 20th century. Since then, a fresh generation (!) has grown, so something could have changed in this way, most likely for the better. We do not know this due to the fact that we do not know the latest results of applicable studies (if they have been conducted recently).
Already at this point of our consideration we call: knowledge! knowledge! knowledge! The 1 about the planet around us and about ourselves. It heals us from various alleged stereotypes, and from “complement” too.
Today, complexes? At the turn of the first and second quarters of the 21st century? That depends! What does that depend on?
From what is the alleged historical mission of a nation-country, in the case under consideration: a/Polish and b/ "West". The “West” written in quotes, for he is not 1 today. And erstwhile was he? Yes, to a large degree it was in the times of the power of the russian Union after the Second planet War, that is, during the "cold war".
"West"... but whose? Is this post-Karolian: France-Germany-Italy? In both planet wars of the 20th century he was no unity!
Or is it the Anglo-Saxon? In Poland, it has been known and nevertheless closer to it since the Second planet War.
Could it be historically and civilizationally conflicted with the Anglo-Saxon "West" of the Iberian-American (South American), of which only existence, specified an intercontinental magnitude (!), and in addition to us culturally and mentally close, is not remembered in Poland (sic!).
Is it possible that “West” remains, as with us, as a construction of a collective imagination, “in virtual”, filled with a continuous stream of images from the screen and sounds from the speaker, to a community with which “in the dark” aspires wide circles of the people of Asia, Africa and another parts of the world?
Whether, at last, the networks and webs of “Western corporations” or “international institutions” or “non-governmental organizations” that environment Poland and the planet of webs and webs of “Western corporations” or “international institutions” – as a forpost of the present “West”. Yes, a full bunch of “polachers” (and people of another proveniences) dream of jumping in there and thus providing “the most crucial thing”, that is, “good work, good housing and good companionship”.
After all, 1 of the prime ministers of the Polish-speaking Warsaw government praised how a strong branch of specified a “international company” would be established in Warsaw, so that “the most talented Poles will no longer gotta look for good work abroad due to the fact that they will find it here”. It was formerly called cosmopolitanism.
Thus already 1 of 2 entities mentioned in the question posed by the MP editorial, namely this "West", has differentiated us; so the attitude of Poland and Poles to various parts of this mega and multi "West" can be different.
Second, if this "historic mission" of Poland (but besides another "not Western" nations-states) should be "for any reason" specified as this present "West", and for any reason it is NOT (if it is not!), then of course, then, of course, Poland should "just" – as Editorial suggests – falls into this complex of inferiority and let it stay in it! Since it should, in the case cited here, implement any "Western standards", since it should work hard to accomplish this "West", but it does not. What a handful! What a klutz! Shame on you! A complex of learned inability.
And we haven't seen each other, and we are already mentally back behind the iron curtain in the PRL mentioned above, even though for respective decades we have “no longer need”. Let us remember that by any of the venerably mentioned PRL tv series, their authors, were just building this inferiority complex; besides during the post-PRL period the trend of showing Poles as idiots in these newer series was (and is) subtly continued, late replaced by an unexplored brutal crime, just like that.
So in this area – how mostly understood mass media – and for the money of an excruciating Polish payer "Polish side" most likely already overtakes the West-West, or Hollywood movie production class D, C, B, and most likely besides this A.
Yes, we realize that self-loathing and self-criticism can sometimes be useful, but they should not be the Leaders of creation intended for the widest number of native audiences.
There is simply a “historic mission”, and here there are “general” para-comedy and criminal series – something happened to us about the article besides much. No, she didn't. These series (and various other, similar, to the wide masses addressed actions) play an anti-educational role, so as to make the subject of the "historic mission" for how many recipients at best incomprehensible.
But what is the “mandatory” that stands present – how it constantly convinces us in mass media – before nations-states? The ones from the West, from the East, from that continent or that continent.
Production. Sales. Consumption. So, above all, economical growth and its indicators. This is commonly served present as the eventual intent – we repeat: The Ultimate! – the lives of man, his household and all nations. Thus, we all see this simple difference with the catechism of adequate Things. Isn't it? Here only eternity and there eternity – eventually!
So – to the question posed by MP Drafting (in diary 41 – ed.) The answer is no. No! No! Poland should not have a inferiority complex towards the West, and most likely a large part of the Polish nation, especially the younger one, no longer (sic!).
After all, Poles have been driving for respective decades after Europe and outside Europe, and see how many similarities between abroad countries and their own country. Polish-language tv shows inactive any graphs, or posts, from which it appears that in specified a respect we have already overtaken any of the countries in the past on the western side of the “iron curtain”.
Oh, yeah! In the times of the Polish People's Republic it was different. The multiplicated differences were stated by everyone in the first 4th of his stay “in the West”. any have already crossed, here in the country, the threshold of the PEWEX store (do you know, baby, what is it?).
There has been a change! In general belief change for the better (for now we are talking about material aspects of human existence). Who's the change? Are they there on the West? Oh, no! This change took place first and foremost in our mediate East. And "West"... like "West."
Let us remind that in Russia already in the 19th century it was said and written about "the rotten West". But at the same time the collective of these "fallers" (pol. Westers, sic!) developed there, i.e. people who wanted to trim "to the West" (as he was at the time).
Interestingly, in the same era in Spain – on the western side of Europe – what is behind the Pyrenees was said: "in Europe". any have said so in terms of their own—as well as those in the East—finding “to Europe” (as it was at the time); but others – on the contrary – in a sense having a centuries-old and what a large foundation for the transoceanity of Catholic Hispanidad.
Why this change in fresh times in Poland? That is due to the fact that communist restrictions on common regular human activity have been abolished, which for the 1990s is associated with the joyful eruption of trade in "folding beds", in the alleged jaws, with the "Wilczka Act" and with the abolition of censorship.
But, but these... limitations. due to the fact that in the 21st century they scope us here, they return (!), but this time... from the West, from this European Union. alleged Eurocommunism!
"Should Poland rightly have inferiority complexes towards Euro-communism?". Uh... Lord! What a lousy joke.
In times of cold war, this united by the existence of a clear common enemy the West towards the russian Union looked with fear, but at the same time with contempt and superiority (sic!). It's not just the West. So do we! It was Poles and neighboring nations about russian Bolsheviks who knew things about which the West even listened to or believed in them.
In the times of the Polish People's Republic, the phrase "Russian challah" meant pastry and bubel; and even cosmic successes Loops, Sputnika, whether Major Gagarin had anything to do with it, they simply did not matter, being at most excited for Polish-language jokes (sic!). The Soviets rematched with the saying, "So much, no Poliaki into space not lietajut".
Speaking of Polish concerns, the real concern was then caused by the spread of parallel and the same burden of contempt equipped, and the “before the war” (the second world) of the unknown saying: “Polish challah”. And indeed – “Polish challah” was useful. But who? This is the West, which in terms of at least economics so smoothly co-organized Poland (and another erstwhile KDL-e) in the 1990s. And so it remained (sic!).
But to this the antidote will not be a vain and empty "feeling of inferiority", or any deforming "complement" of today's Poles, but a wise head, according to this National League from over a 100 years ago, how to get out of this fresh dependence.
Besides, since the changes, it's not just us, it's the world. The author has never been in – for example – China. And it most likely won't. From various reports about this large country, we invariably conclude that tiny – nomen-omen – changes can be made in the question posed by the Editorial Office to: Should the West rightly have complexes towards China?
Many Poles will say, how enviously, that they should, and this to know what they were meant to live in, under the peoples, so: to know the sense of danger on the part of a stronger, better, more efficient. Let us add here that a 100 and more years ago the China-West relation was the opposite. In China, they are said to remember this well erstwhile they have not been in the West for a long time.
We met a man once, here in Poland, who showed any satisfaction from the assassination of the planet Trade Center skyscrapers in 2001, or, literally, from the fall in dust and dust of this “memory of fresh times”: “Well, then 'they' yet happened...”.
I wonder if there is simply a global survey of opinions on this, for example, topic. Their results could be very amazing and informative for us. 1 can speculate in which countries were more or little silently shared the satisfaction of that man, but in his homeland, which is possibly a minority. The results of specified investigation would side-by-side show that, at the outset, we mentioned the differentiation of what is commonly called the “West”.
At first, we utilized the "old-fashioned" concept of "historical mission"; that all nation has a task to do at a given phase of its existence. Sometimes it concerns a group of nations, that we will mention the classical example of the era of cross expeditions and reconquists; and later Catholic missions conducted all over the world, besides today.
This assignment was different. usually it was simply about being led regular in a certain way, according to certain principles. In the conviction immediately preceding the word "civilization" we have entered into.
Exactly. Fulfilling the priorities of civilization to which we belong and our national culture, which has developed for centuries in radiance and at the same time within this civilisation.
Are those PRIORITIES referred to above: Production? Sales? So, above all, economical growth and its indicators, demonstrated through the possible readable posts and charts? And waste production, which is just garbage, especially plastic, on a scale half a century ago unknown! And throwing out food! And the progressive degradation of the natural environment! And the inability to see stars in the sky on a cloudless night (and why?)! And so on...
specified if only a material and materialistic shuffle (!) – what you will eat, you will "put down" and expel. You throw out the excess, whatever where, or – if you apologize – you vomit (sic!). Oh, yeah! These are the consequences of these bands in various areas of revolutions that have plagued the West from around the 16th century.
Oh, no! These are surely not our PRIORITIES! They're not the mark of our Civilization! But, yes, to civilization itself, anyway... to all civilization – if you ignore these pathologies associated with waste and demolition – they are crucial material foundations of its functioning, here, on this earth's tears of padola. That's it!
The question arises of who, with which nation, country, with a group of countries are the Poles most “on the way”. Who else belongs today, despite everything, to the same civilization or even sub-civilization as we do? But... do we Poles belong to any... civilization today? What do you call her? If post-communist-European, then the field of choice is clearly narrowed. But if, despite everything, the Latin civilization (Conelic Felix), then we can besides scope another continents.
But... the nations are divided today. A politician active in Poland present spoke about “Latin Poles” (sic!), “those who want to proceed to be Poles” and the Poles of others (and this did not concern differences between the Mass before and after the Council). He was right. Nevertheless, even with akin divisions affecting another nations, there is inactive individual to scope out to, in Europe and beyond. The question posed by the Editorial Board can so be changed to these:
Should Poles “Latin”, “those who want to stay Poles”, rightly have inferiority complexes towards “West” (as it is today)?
However, you will admit that the answer to this question will cover a somewhat different set of issues than those mentioned above.
