The Association of Entrepreneurs and Farmers of SWOJAK sent an open letter to the Prime Minister Donald Tusk, in which it expressed its support for expanding defence spending and called for more targeted support for the national defence industry.

In a letter to the Prime Minister, the association expressed its satisfaction with the declaration of expanding investment in defence of the country.

"We welcome the declaration made by the Prime Minister to increase defence spending, as well as proposals based on strengthening the military capacity of our country," stressed the Management Board of SWOJAK in a letter addressed to the Head of Government.

The organization emphasizes that increased financial expenditure can importantly improve the safety of Poland and its global position. 1 of the key points of the letter is the request to allocate funds to the improvement of home arms companies.

"The Polish economy, especially the arms industry, has been exhibiting tremendous possible and production capacity for years, which unfortunately are not full exploited," the association notes.

The organization draws attention to the successes of Polish military technologies, specified as "Krab", "Piorun" rocket systems or drones, which have proven their worth in real combat activities.

Despite these successes, SWOJAK stresses the request to modernise certain production areas, especially the ammunition sector.

"The production of ammunition, whose capacity does not always go hand in hand with the needs of modern armies, requires more investment, innovative technologies and infrastructure development", the letter states.

The association besides refers to the thought of organising military training for citizens, especially young men. It emphasises that specified initiatives should be well planned so as not to adversely affect the functioning of the economy.

"As an organization that supports the Polish business sector, we realize that the abrupt and massive engagement of thousands of young men in military training, which lasts long weeks, could seriously undermine the functioning of many industries, including agriculture, manufacture or services", SWOJAK observes.

In consequence to this problem, the organisation proposes more flexible solutions, specified as weekend military courses, which would let for the simultaneous preparation of citizens' defences and keep the stableness of the labour market.

At the end of the letter, SWOJAK Association of Entrepreneurs and Farmers ensures its readiness to cooperate with the government in the improvement of the national arms manufacture and effective planning of military training.

“We believe that the sustainable improvement of our army, with the support of national industry, will contribute to the construction of a strong, safe and independent Poland,” concludes the organization’s board of directors.

The call from SWOJAK shows that the business and farmers sector wants to participate actively in the process of strengthening the defence of the country, while at the same time ensuring economical stableness and the improvement of Polish industry. Will the government take these suggestions into account? Time will tell.
