The end of June brings a crucial change in the weekend rhythm of many Poles who are utilized to closed doors of buying malls. Sunday June 29, 2025 is 1 of the fewer on the calendar erstwhile the trade ban is not applicable. This is excellent news for all those planning larger purchases, but at the same time a reminder of how uncommon these opportunities have become. Only 7 trade Sundays were foreseen throughout 2025, and June is the second. This means that by the end of the year there are only 5 specified days.
This exceptional Sunday is the consequence of the Trade regulation Act, which, since 2020, regulates the work of shops in its enhanced form. For consumers, this is simply a chance to catch up and for trade – 1 of the key days in the summertime sales calendar. It is worth planning this day well, due to the fact that another occasion for Sunday buying in supermarkets and buying malls will not come until 2 months from the end of the holiday.
Trade Sunday calendar 2025. erstwhile are we going shopping?
The Trade regulation Act on Sundays and holidays, which came into force in 2018, became increasingly restrictive from year to year. Since 2020, purchases in large-area facilities are only possible on 7 designated Sundays throughout the year. The intent of the regulation was to supply workers with free weekends, which caused a wide public debate and permanently changed the purchasing habits of Poles.
By 2025, there is already 1 trade Sunday behind us. After today, 29 June, the calendar provides for only 5 more specified days. It is worth saving these dates to avoid disappointment in front of closed shops. Another trade Sunday in 2025 is:
- 31 August – perfect chance to buy before the beginning of the school year,
- 7 December – the first of 3 Sundays in the hot pre-Christmas period,
- 14 December – the second Sunday to buy presents and Christmas articles,
- 21 December – last chance for Sunday buying just before Christmas Eve.
As you can see, most of the opportunities for Sunday buying are concentrated at the end of the year, which aims to facilitate preparations for Christmas. summertime trade Sunday is so an exception for which many people have been waiting for a long time.
New rules in December and free Christmas Eve. What changed?
The year 2025 brought about a crucial amendment to the government which straight affects the December trade schedule. The most crucial change is statutory establishment on 24 December, or Christmas Eve, a day off from work and trade. So far, shops could have been open on that day by 2:00. The fresh regulations, signed at the end of last year, are intended to supply workers with the chance to spend the full day with their family.
To compensate for the failure of trade on that day, an additional 3rd trade Sunday was introduced in December. This is why on the calendar for 2025 we see as many as 3 trade Sundays in a row: December 7, 14 and 21. However, the legislator besides took care of the rights of workers – the amendment introduces a provision that the worker of the trade sector will not be able to work on all 3 of these Sundays. The employer will gotta supply him with at least 1 of them.
However, it is worth noting that the fresh government has become the subject of a legal dispute. president Andrzej Duda, despite the signing of the Act, directed her in the follow-up to the Constitutional Court. The reservations of the head of state concern the introduction of the 3rd commercial Sunday in December, which he believes may violate the constitutional rights of workers to rest. The Court’s ruling in this case may in future affect the plan of the December commercial calendar.
