Sharp riposta after the Czarnka conference
Marcin Kierwiński responded to Przemysław Czarnk after PiS politicians spoke on the situation of farmers. If the state wants to talk about food security, it must treat farms as part of national infrastructure. Without the Polish farmer there is no inexpensive food, opposition to price blackmail and average life outside large cities.
The grain from Ukraine returns like a remorse
Kierwiński reached for a reason for grain from Ukraine. It was 1 of those cases where the large geopolitics entered the Polish backyard. Aid to the invaded state in Ukraine must not mean disregard for the interest of Polish farms. The frontier of solidarity ends where the state ceases to defend its own market.
As early as 2023, the media reported a parliamentary discussion on reports concerning technical grain from Ukraine sold as food. This is not a convenient subject for the Law and Justice, nor for the present power. The first must explain the mistakes from the beginning of the market, others must show that they can draw conclusions and defend Polish production without hiding behind EU rhetoric.
A political dispute won't feed the village
Kierwinski can score Czarnek for political memory. Czarnek may answer that the current government drained farmers' portfolios through fuel prices. Both contact parts of the truth, but the Polish village has the right to anticipate more than to blame each other. Clear import rules, efficient controls, fair prices and fast financial decisions are needed. Otherwise, the farmer will one more time be left with an invoice in his hand, and politicians with another quote on the Internet.
