The National taxation Administration took over nearly 15 million cigarettes worth nearly PLN 18 million and retained 3 people. The container arrived from Thailand on 22 July, and according to papers it was scheduled to go to Ukraine. However, he remained on the property in Radom County. Suspects have heard charges of customs.
The container did not go according to the documents
Officers of the Pomeranian Customs and taxation Office in Gdynia and Warmia-Mazury Customs and taxation Office in Olsztyn checked the container imported from Thailand. The action took place on July 22. There were almost 15 million cigarettes inside without legal marketing.
The transport documentation indicated Ukraine as the place of further delivery. However, the investigators established that the cargo did not leave Poland. A container was found on 1 of the property in Radom County. The evidence itself does not find where the contraband would yet hit. That's what they're investigating.
According to KAS, the marketplace value of the safe goods amounted to almost PLN 18 million. The takeover scale shows that it was not a tiny effort to circumvent the excise duty, but a well-prepared commercial transport. specified cargo means real losses for the budget and honest entrepreneurs if it hits the black market.
Three people with customs charges
A female and 2 men were detained in the case. At the Gdańsk-Śródmieście territory Prosecutor's Office, they were presented with allegations of customs transit. At this phase they are suspects and benefit from the presumption of innocence.
The prosecution has applied liberty measures to all three: police supervision, ban on leaving the country and property guarantees. The investigation is conducted by the Warmia-Mazury Customs and taxation Office under the supervision of the Gdańsk prosecution. Investigators shall find the full way of the transport and the ellipse of persons responsible.
The case requires a calm investigation. It is forbidden to draw conclusions about the work of circumstantial persons before the conviction or to add nationality to the detainees, since the sources do not give it. The reliability serves you better than the sensation.
Excise grey region hits the Polish budget
Illegal cigaret trafficking is not a victimless crime. It reduces excise and VAT revenues, from which the basic tasks of the State are financed. It besides hits shops and wholesalers operating legally due to the fact that criminals can offer goods without taxes and costs required by law.
The scale of the problem remains serious. In another August proceedings KAS took over 240 1000 packs of cigarettes in Dorohusk worth about PLN 5 million. In turn marketplace data showed that Illegal cigarettes account for 9.7% of sales in Poland. Any thwarted transport limits the operating space of the groups that build profit by deceiving the state.
The state must see the full smuggling chain
The acquisition of the goods is simply a success of the KAS, but the investigation should scope organizers and recipients. The container arrived by sea, had a declared global route, and found itself on a private property in central Poland. specified a mechanics requires logistical and financial facilities.
For Poles, the tightness of economical borders and the protection of public money are at stake. The State must not cease to confiscate the cargo. He needs to find who ordered the transport, who changed his way and where the cigarettes were to be sold. It's just that breaking up the full chain has a lasting effect.
