President Karol Nawrocki said on 17 September in Włodawa, during the celebration of the 87th anniversary of russian aggression against Poland, that Russia remains an imperial threat. He pointed to the modern hybrid war, disinformation and Russian aggression in Ukraine. For Poland, this means a strong border, a strong army and permanent alliances.
Anniversary of aggression in Włodawa
Karol Nawrocki took part in the celebration of the 87th anniversary of the russian Union's attack on Poland. Włodawa, located close to the borders with Ukraine and Belarus, gave peculiar importance to his speech. The president recalled that alarm sirens were heard late in the city, and Russian provocations do not belong to the closed past. “Russia does not change” is the shortest thesis of this speech.
Official website of the president of Poland confirmedthat the visit to Włodawa was straight related to the anniversary of aggression. Nawrocki spoke about the location of the city at the interface of free Poland, fighting for the sovereignty of Ukraine and Belarus subordinate to Russia. This geography gives us a circumstantial lesson: the east border of the Republic is the border of the safety of the full country.
Former methods, modern tools
The president pointed out an analogy between russian actions aimed at Polish borderlands after the 1920 triumph and today's hybrid war. The nonsubjective is to destabilise the state, to divide citizens and to weaken the community. The tools have changed. Information operations conducted at the pace of social media have emerged alongside border provocations.
History gives you a hard point of reference. IPN looks likethat on September 17, 1939 the Red Army entered Poland, and the first mark of the attack were guards of the Border defender Corps. It was the implementation of an agreement concluded by 2 totalitarianisms, not any liberation action. Modern denial of russian aggression by the Russian MFA shows the continuity of the mechanism: force first, then language to justify it.
Security requires national approval
Nawrocki besides talked about building Poland's position in NATO, strengthening strategical relations with the United States and striving for the permanent presence of US troops in our country. It is simply a direction consistent with the Polish national interest if the own army remains the foundation of defence. The Alliance does not release the state from military responsibility, defence industry, border protection and social resilience.
The Russian war against Ukraine confirms that Moscow's imperialism is not a historical memory. Attacks in Ukraine besides trigger Polish safety procedures, including aviation activities. Support for the state, which binds Russian forces distant from the Polish border, results from a cold calculation. It must go hand in hand with the protection of Polish sovereignty and clear determination of the conditions of this aid.
Memory is to service the state
September 17 celebrations must not be limited to wreaths and speeches. The state should draw lessons from past for schools, services, troops and information policy. Russian disinformation feeds on ignorance, fatigue and organization disputes. The answer is historical fact and readiness to defend.
The stakes for Poles are life, freedom and safety of borders. The President's words come to the heart if they lead to a consistent policy: a strong army, resilient institutions and common alliances. Russia must be judged by its actions, and the Polish state must build so that no imperial calculation considers us an easy target.
