One individual was killed and 20 were injured after Intercity “Koziołek” train collided with a truck on 9 September 2026 at 11.25 in Sokolniki Suchych in Mazovia. Composition of Lublin Main-Szczecin Main derailed, locomotive fell to the side, and traffic on line 22 was halted.
Tragic Accident Balance
The death of 1 individual was confirmed in a conversation with the Virtual Poland Youth Captain Karolina Jaworska, a press officer of the Mazovia Provincial Commander of the State Fire Service. According to information provided on Wednesday afternoon, the victim was 1 of the 4 most severely injured people. The services did not at the time confirm whether a passenger, a railway individual or another associate had died.
About 120 people traveled on the train. 20 people were injured. Among the 4 hardest injured were the driver and the truck driver. At this stage, no further conclusions should be drawn on the course of the event or on the work of the participants.
Cross-road collision in Dry Falcons
The accident occurred on a railway-road crossing equipped with traffic lights. Train of PKP Intercity “Koziołek”, going from Lublin Główny to Szczecin Główny, collided with the truck. Upon impact, the locomotive fell to the side and the wagons fell off the rails, but remained within the track.
About 30 fire brigades worked on the site, including specialised medical and method rescue groups. Medical rescuers, police officers and railway workers besides carried out their activities. The crash site has been secured.
Stopped traffic and replacement communication
After the event, traffic on railway line No 22 Tomaszów Mazowiecki-Radom Główny was stopped. PKP Intercity began organizing replacement communications and ordered 3 buses for travellers. The common honouring of the airline's tickets on the trains of Łódź Agglomeration Railway and Polregio was besides introduced.
The causes and the exact course of the accident will be determined by the competent services. The most crucial remains the aid of the injured and a reliable explanation of why a collision occurred on the crossing. We offer our condolences to the household of the deceased.
