A hungry tiger, a raging elephant

The dilemma they faced last Sunday (21 April 2024) Some of the inhabitants of Gliwice are vividly reminiscent of a question that Lao Tsy has yet to put forward – would you alternatively be eaten by a tiger or trampled by an elephant?

Dora circular of presidential elections in the city forever being on line and base was fundamentally an interior struggle. Representing the camp of the multidecade president of the city, and presently Senator Sigismund Frankiewicz, a certain Mariusz Spiewok somewhat lost to his wife, known for years, a parteigenosse with a KO mgr of Boris' law a certain Katarzyna Kuczyńska – Budka.

The run before the second circular was enjoyable. Well, I have heard that PiS voters should vote for Boris' wife, because... it would be adequate to change only 1 letter in her name and alternatively of Kuczyńska it would be Kaczyńska. :)

As local media reports, the vote difference was... 540.

This looked good in percent – for Budka's wife 50.56% of the votes were cast and for Frankiewicz's man 49.44%.

However, the joy of winning must weaken the awareness that election turnout belonged to 1 of the lowest in Poland, unless it was at the bottom.

Only 37.81 % of the glyphicians entitled to vote went to the polling stations on Sunday.

That's 10% little than the first round.

Less than 7% little than the national average.

30 years of the reign of Frankiewicz and his anointed successors brought improvement to the city. The inhabitants, however, were upset by the war that the city had given up in trees for respective years. They say that only for road investments were cut twice as many trees as for the construction of the canal by Wiślana. Besides, just stand in front of the railway station and look at the immense concrete desert...

Catherine Budka announced that she would leave these practices. However, will Trzaskowski's model decision the lever the another way and alternatively of making it easier for drivers to start fighting with motorized e.g. turning the parking lot into lawns?

Time will tell.

Nothing's likely to move. For what was to be cut has already been cut. And the budget of Gliwice is besides tiny to effort to plant large trees alternatively of sticks, which will become trees according to those cut out at the end of the century.

In addition, it is crucial to remember that low voter attendance can facilitate the cancellation of the town's ruler.

According to Article 11 of the Law of 15 September 2000. About the local referendum a group of 15 residents, the local structure of the political organization or a legal social organisation may take the initiative to set up a referendum.

Let's skip the organizational stuff. This will be done by possible organizers.

Important for voters is Article 55 of the abovementioned Act.

A referendum on the cancellation of the body of the local government unit from direct elections shall be valid where no little than 3/5 of the numbers active in the selection of the appealed body have been involved.

So 60% of those in the elections are enough. In the case of Gliwice, this means that for the validity of the referendum on the dismissal of president Catherine adequate attendance of 22.68% is enough!

If more than half of this number (50%+1) vote for cancellation, we will have an early presidential election.

Less than they voted for Spiewok.

At this threshold, this can be comparatively easy.

Is this going to happen?

The mistake highlighted by Zygmunt Frankiewicz is the political choice made in Gliwice. It's hard to say he's right.

If Catherine's husband had not been a recognized minister for years or a positional parteigenosse, the elections would most likely have ended already in the first circular of her defeat.

So whether a referendum will take place in Gliwice depends at least as much on Tusk and his company's quotations.

And so it will besides be in another local governments, where KO candidates have triumphed.

Pabout years of more or little successful separation of self-government from current red-headed policy, the squad decided to seize it as part of the Politician loot.

Does this mean a further revision of the local government law and the adjustment of the word of office to parliamentary?

So that the fresh power in the Village doesn't gotta wait besides long to fill local governments?

Of course, after next year's presidential election, and only if 1 wins it Red candidate.

If, of course, Coalition 13 December (and more frequently called a coalition of the uneaten) shall last until 1/3 of its word of office.

This, however, seems increasingly questionable.
