We're through!

On May 1st, Warsaw passed the Peace March. specified a laconic message is full true, but it does not give back to the least what happened on the streets of the capital.

This is due to the fact that the event, which many people had promised a terrible defeat, proved to be an unquestionable success by gathering thousands of Poles. So it would be better to compose here triumphantly: We're through! We went through it anyway. Despite attempts to disgust and ridicule us by full-time commentators of mainstream media. Even though many have urged us not to go. any even out of genuine kindness. They threatened us with the most likely provocations or turnout flaps.

I am as far distant as possible from the harmful and widespread cult of “the act” in Poland. However, there are times erstwhile 1 has to decision distant from the wisest even the considerations and analyses to face reality. Abandon your small “comfort zones” limiting us to a narrow ellipse of friends and the virtual planet of social media. Get on the streets. hard and loud to make your point. That was the time.

In spite of the mediate of a long weekend, despite the fine spring aura, prompting alternatively lazy rest, thousands of us arrived. Different as it may be. After all, that I paraphrase Dmowski, we come from different parts of Poland, we have different interests, we disagree in age, education and perception of many issues, but there is an overarching goal that unites us. This goal is the Homeland for which we want to live and work. We want to live in peace and we want this peace to besides become our neighbours.

The demonstration was organized by respective entities, including the Polish Antiwar Movement, the Polish Left Movement and, of course, the Polish thought Clubs. There were representatives of our clubs from Katowice, Szczecin, Krakow, Warsaw, Poznań and Gdańsk. Among the editors and co-workers of our magazine there were: Łukasz Jastrzębski, Bogdan Kulas, Mariusz Świder, Piotr Panasiuk, Tomasz Jankowski, Mateusz Piskorski and Przemysław Piasta.

During the event, people from different backgrounds and organisations spoke. Among them were Dr. Leszek Sykulski (PRA), Sebastian Pitoń (PRA), Henryk Miketyn (PRL), Dr. Lucyna Kulińska, Dr. Włodzimierz Gorki (PRL), Dr. Mateusz Piskorski (Wyśl Polska), Przemysław Piasta (Wyśl Polska), Ena Zychowicz, Tomasz Jankowski (Wzbrąd Cenzura) and B. Leszek Samborski.

“We will not weigh words here! We remember the genocide committed on the Polish nation by Ukrainian nationalists. Our consent to the flag symbolism is not in public. There is no consent from us to advance the cult of criminals: Bandery, Suchewych, Ukrainian Insurgency Army – a genocidal organization of Ukrainian nationalists. present we say: halt the flag! We do not have our consent to a brand for another people's wars, to drag us into the American war machine!" – said Leszek Sykulski. "Let us all shout present – Yankees out of Poland, Yankees out of Europe! This should be our slogan" – emphasised Mateusz Piskorski.

Who wasn't there anyway? The demonstration was attended by representatives of various political and social groups. The frame with us included members of the Movement of 16 Postulates, Polish Labour, Watah of the Citizen's Voice, Confederation of the Polish Crown, Grunwald, Association of Inheritors of Polish Kombatants of planet War II, Association of PATRIA, Polish Slavic Committee, Civic Defence Committee of Polish Natural Resources and most likely many others.

Just as curious as the attendance list is, however, the absence list. Despite the invitations, no of the Members of the Polish Parliament, including those who will most likely be seeking our support in a fewer months. This is simply a crucial absence, which is definitely worth noting. For the question remains open whether the 1 who has stayed at home present will have the energy and courage to defend the interests of the nation. Especially since it could be a lonely defense.
