Historical Calendar: August 11, 1942 – publication of Sophia Kossak-Szczucka's celebrated appeal

Anniversary of publication of an extraordinary paper whose author was Zofia Kossak – Szczucka.

Today in our calendar we will look at the times of business and the attitude of national-Catholic communities to the Nazi thought of extermination of Jews.

The question of the extermination of Polish Jews by the Germans was profoundly commented on by Polish underground circles, including those related to Catholicism and the national idea. A collective opinion on this subject was included in a publication on 11 August 1942 entitled “Protest!” The author of the paper signed by the Polish Revival Front, which was a continuation of the pre-war Catholic Action, was a Polish author associated with national circles, Zofia Kossak-Szczucka. "Protest!" was issued in a conspiracy in 5000 pieces in Warsaw in the form of leaflet-post.

The intent of the publication was to specify the position of Polish Catholics and nationalists against the extermination of Jews, carried out by the German authorities in the territory of occupied Poland. The paper was an appeal to Polish society and was based on the principles of Catholic religion and universal moral values of Christianity – love of neighbor, independent of the worldview or religion.

PROTEST!

In the Warsaw ghetto, behind the wall cutting off from the world, respective 100 1000 convicts are waiting to die. There is no hope of rescue for them, no aid coming from anywhere. The streets run by the torturers, shooting at anyone who dares to leave the house. They shoot like anyone standing in a window. There are unburied bodies on the road.

The regular prescribed number of victims is 8–10 thousand. judaic police are obliged to deliver them to German executioners. If they don't, they'll die alone. Children incapable to walk on their own are loaded on wagons. The charging takes place in specified a brutal way that fewer commute to the ramp. Mothers who look at it get crazy. The number of people deranged from despair and horror equals the number of people shot.

There are train cars waiting on the ramp. The executioners put 150 in one. On the level lies a thick layer of lime and chlorine poured with water. The car door is sealed. Sometimes the train starts immediately after loading, sometimes it stands on the side track 24 hours, two...

It doesn't substance to anyone anymore. Of the people crowded so tightly that the dead cannot fall down and inactive stand shoulder to shoulder with the living, of the people dying free in the fumes of lime and chlorine, deprived of air, drops of water, food—no 1 will stay alive anyway. Wherever mortal trains arrive, they will contain only corpses...

In the face of this torment, liberation would shortly become death. The torturers predicted it. All the pharmacies in the ghetto have been closed so they don't deliver the poison. There's no gun. All that's left is throwing yourself out the window. It's besides quite a few convicts sneaking out like that.

The same as in the Warsaw ghetto has been held for six months in 1 100 smaller and larger Polish towns and cities. The full number of people killed is already moving a million, and the figure will grow all day. Everybody dies. Rich and poor, old men, women, men, youth, infants, Catholics dying with the Name of Jesus and Mary, as well as the ancient order. They were all guilty of being born into a judaic nation doomed to demolition by Hitler.

The planet looks at this crime, scarier than anything that has always seen it – and it is silent. The slaughter of millions of defenseless people is carried out among universal, sinister silence. They don't brag about what they do. England and America do not take the floor, even the influential global Jewry, so in the past so delicate to any harm of its own. The Poles are silent.

Polish political friends of Jews are limited to journalistic notes, Polish opponents of Jews uncover a deficiency of interest in their abroad cause. The dying Jews are surrounded by the washing hands of the Pilates themselves.

This silence can no longer be tolerated. Whatever his motives are, it is wicked. The crime must not be kept passive. Who is silent in the face of execution – becomes a partner of the murderer. He who does not condemn, approves.

so we Catholic Poles take the floor. Our feelings toward the Jews have not changed. We proceed to respect them as political, economical and ideological enemies of Poland. Moreover, we realize that they hatred us more than the Germans, that they make us liable for their misfortune. Why, on what basis, it remains the mystery of the judaic soul, but it is simply a fact which is constantly confirmed. But knowing these feelings does not release us of the work to condemn the crime.

We don't want to be Pilates. We can't actively counter German murder, we can't help, we can't save anyone, but we can't. We protestfrom the bottom of their hearts filled with pity, outrage and horror. This protest is demanded of us by God, who did not let killing. A Christian conscience demands. all being calling himself a man has the right to love his neighbor. The blood of the helpless will for vengeance to heaven. Who does not support this protest with us – is not Catholic.

We protest simultaneously as Poles. We do not believe that Poland can benefit from German atrocities. On the contrary. In the stubborn silence of global Jewry, in the proceedings of German propaganda trying to drop the obium for slaughter of Jews on Lithuanians and ... Poles, we sense the planning of an action hostile to us.

We besides know how poisonous crimes can be. Forced participation of the Polish nation in a bloody spectacle fulfilled on Polish lands, may well breed antagonism for harm, sadism, and above all a dangerous belief that it is allowed to execution others with impunity.

Who does not realize it, who proud, free future of Poland would dare to combine with the vile joy of misery Neighbor He is so neither Catholic nor Polish.

POLISH DECLARATION FRONIT

“Protest!” was a surprise for judaic and left-wing communities, as Zofia Kossak was associated with pre-war national-Catholic circles, which referred to a large reserve to Jews, ritualized them for fraud, etc. This position was clearly highlighted in her protest.

OUR COMMENTS: “Protest!” and the subsequent actions of Zofia Kossak-Szczucka, who founded the ŻEGOTA judaic Aid Council, show large differences in Catholic and judaic approaches. all man is simply a neighbour to a Catholic. To the hebrew is only another Jew, and the goje (non-Jews) are according to the Talmud of animals.

The appeal confirms the moral superiority of Catholicism over hateful tribal Talmudism. Let us be certain that if Poles were in a akin situation, Jews would not aid them, but would alternatively support our oppressors. They already did, for example, in times of judaic regulation after 1944.
