He did it again!
We present to you an interview with Arkadiusz Olszewski, the creator who has created wonderful for Poles for years animations. This time he leaned over the year 2023, what came of it? See for yourselves:
Your latest animation came out on Saturday. Where did this thought come from, and how long did it take to prepare it?
The thought of it at my place came to my head very spontaneously. A reminder of the most important, loudest and funniest events of 2023 seemed to me an thought so interesting, and in fact useful in times of a crowd of information causing a shorter collective memory – that I just sat down and started painting. The only problem was that akin summaries should come out alternatively in January of the following year, and my thought came to head in late July... What was I expected to do? After all, better late than Claus Von Stauffenberg always said. The animation was created in a month, I will add a very intense month!
The cross section in animation covered practically the full Polish political scene, cinema novelties and sporting events. Who gets hit the most and who else gets hit? And what's Bolek doing there?
I don't know who got hit the most, many events were shown in a way rather close to reality, others were a bit twisted (I guess yet neither Korwin nor Braun sat physically in any closet). The character of the episode was undoubtedly Mr. Braun, who with large courage entered that terrible day with a fire extinguisher into the grounds of the Sejm. Bolek is the puppet of the episode. Or possibly a full series, if there's one.
What were you trying to achieve?
First of all, I wanted to amuse viewers, test myself in comedy, grow the audience before the coming bomb – the movie ‘Jasyr’, and besides kind out any events in a form that no 1 had always dressed before.
Are you going to halt at 2023, or are we expected to anticipate further animation of this type?
If viewers are curious in specified a form, I will be happy to pull it in the following years, and then the next ones and return to the erstwhile ones.
How did you choice what goes into animation?
I have taken into account both the popularity of the event, its echo, its memognic potential, but besides the topics of importance. A short cross-section of what Poles lived, I tried to choice up something from all bubble, which I did not fear, or even disgust to enter, due to the fact that I must point out that I did not dare to put into the areas of TikTok, Freak Fights or the most utmost of the left. I have never yet responded to the slowest spreading “challenge” (because how demanding) priest Simon Bubble with the grateful name "get out of the bubble" – but it can be said that this challenge (I was nominated by Anna Mandrela) I took it rather seriously due to the fact that yet I came out of the bubble – and I painted what I found.
