Only medical professionals can legally treat patients.

Modifications in the Polish Classification of Activities (PKD) do not change the existing regulations on the conduct of medical activity – only persons with the right to practice the medical profession can proceed to execute medical activity. Changes in the classification of the activities do not so extend the ellipse of persons entitled to treat patients.

The fresh PKD classification for paramedical activities entered into force on 1 January 2025. erstwhile subclass (86.90.D) – Paramedical activities were replaced by Activities in the field of traditional, complementary and alternate medicine (86.96.Z).

The fresh classification had to be adapted to global standards, including:

  • International Standard Classification of Activity Types (ISIC Rev.5) — UN,
  • Statistical Classification of economical Activities in the European Union (NACE Rev. 2.1).

The Ministry of wellness is not the author of changes in PKD – the classification was developed by the Central Statistical Office (GUS). The wellness hotel submitted its comments to the project, but due to the request to adapt the classification to global standards, they were not taken into account.

It should be noted that the fresh name and extended description of activities in the field of traditional, complementary and alternate medicine do not apply to hospitals or professional practices, including doctors – for them there are also classifications, e.g. 86.10.Z, 86.21.Z, 86.22.Z.

We urge you to always usage medical professionals for wellness problems.
