Commenting on Niezalezna.pl, the dramatic circumstances of abortion in the ninth period of pregnancy in the infirmary in Oleśnica, prof. Bogdan Chazan emphasizes that from an ethical point of view, there is no "essential difference" between abortion performed in the early or late phase of pregnancy. At the same time, he admits that the doctor who did it has created “own, independent standards to kill the kid reported”. 1 of the causes of the tragedy is the guidelines of the Ministry of wellness "directed towards killing as many children as possible in Poland before their birth".
In the infirmary in Oleśnica, Gizela Jagielska, a gynecologist, who is besides the deputy manager of the facility, performed the alleged abortion in the 36th week of pregnancy. The reason for this ‘medical procedure’ was a psychiatric condition indicating a hazard to the wellness of a pregnant woman. The procedure was performed by an injection of potassium chloride straight into the child’s heart.

Gynaecologist and obstetrician prof. Bogdan Chazan pointed out in an interview with the portal Nielezna.pl that this scandalous issue "has a full array of aspects". – erstwhile it comes to the legal aspect, it is true, in accordance with the law on the protection of the conceived kid and the conditions for the admissibility of abortion, that in the event of a threat to wellness and life, there is no pregnancy time in which abortion can be legally performed. In most pregnancies, there are any difficulties, any thoughts, any problems, any questions: how will it be with careers, school, work? But this does not mean that any difficulties in adopting themselves to the condition of waiting for a child, are to follow the rules contained in the bill and justify killing a man – absolutely not. Prof. Chazan emphasises that from an ethical point of view, “there is no fundamental difference between abortion performed in early pregnancy and abortion performed in late pregnancyIt’s okay. ” – In both cases a kid is killed and reprimanded, the horror of this procedure is the same – he said.
– But in a situation where we're dealing with a kid who's been reported, capable of surviving outside the mother's body, and in addition, a procedure is utilized to insert a needle into the chest and inject potassium chloride into the heart, it's just humanly terrible.

There was no danger to life.
Prof. Chazan recalled in this context the crimes committed by the Germans on St Maximilian Kolbe, who was besides killed on death row with a heart shot. – It's not potassium chloride, it's phenol, it's a procedure of this kind that wakes Poles as bad memories of associations – he said.
The genecologist stressed that in the case of the alleged abortion which was carried out in the infirmary in Oleśnica, “there was no threat to the life of a woman”. – There was a danger to intellectual wellness in the subjective opinion of the parent and psychiatrist – he said.
The baby could be alive.
When asked if the doctor could have done otherwise, allowing a surviving kid to be born, our interviewer recalled that specified a solution was proposed by Prof. Piotr Sieroszewski – “the head of the Łódź Clinic, president of the Polish Society of Gynecologists and Obstetricians, elected by all Gynecologists for this position”.
In his opinion, specified a procedure was not appropriate from a legal and ethical point of view and an imperial cut had to be made. The Polish Society of Gynecologists and Obstetricians creates for doctors certain standards of conduct, certain guidelines to which doctors of Gynecologists should apply. And here, the President's ruling seems to be binding on us gynecologists. But Dr. Gizela decided to make her own independent standards of killing a kid reported. – explained.
– There was another way. Mother, if she was not able to rise a sick child, she could have given this sick kid up for adoption. I'm certain there'd be people who would accept this child.

According to Prof. Chazan, the illness diagnosed in the kid in prenatal studies “has different degrees of severity – from actually severe to light, almost unnoticed”. – I in prenatal examination with the aid of ultrasound test cannot be determined What kind of illness will it be before this baby is born? Guidelines for killing
The gynaecologist recalled that the alleged eugenic premise for abortion was removed by the Constitutional Court in 2020.
– But the "government" of health, together with the Minister of Justice, issued guidelines that are not signed (not known who signed them), in which she even encourages gynecologists to replace the deficiency of abortion due to the child's developmental defects, or eugenic, abortion on psychiatric grounds. Moreover, she banned the call for a second psychiatrist consultant, prohibited even consumption. Only 1 psychiatrist's opinion should be adequate here

In his opinion, the Minister of wellness "entered the field of medical procedures that did not concern her management". – And she threatened that any delay, any failure to comply with these guidelines, so asking a second consultant or convocation of the console would be treated with all severity.
