Gen. Leon Komornicki on September 4, 2026 warned in the sub-cast of the WP “Without Doctrine” that Poland remains in the political, diplomatic and military defense, due to the fact that there is no coherent defence strategy. He criticized the concrete dams and command detached from the units. For Poles, effective defence of the territory is at stake, not costly demonstration of equipment.
Equipment without doctrine does not supply security
Gen. Leon Komornicki, erstwhile Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Polish Army, placed in the podcast “Without Doctrine” an allegation which cannot be suppressed by another presentation of fresh tanks or launchers. In his opinion, Poland does not have a strategy corresponding to the present threat, so it remains in the political, diplomatic and military defence.
We request weapons purchases. However, contracts alone do not say how the state wants to deter its opponent, defend its borders, defend its population and reconstruct its abilities after the first strike. If each kind of armed force develops separately and politicians treat the signed agreement as a ready-to-use combat capability, billions can produce an effect much weaker than expected.
Russia operates below the threshold of open war
Komornicki estimated that Russia was carrying out activities calculated to weaken Western leadership and undermine NATO without an open attack launching Article 5 of the Treaty. Poland must so build the defence of the state, not just an army intended for 1 kind of war.
The General besides warned that the Baltic States could become an area of trial for the Alliance's unity. This is not an argument for turning distant from NATO. The strongest part of the statements afraid conventional reinforcements. Komornicki stated that putting concrete obstacles without a wider concept is simply a "dog on a building" due to the fact that it can only uncover the prepared positions.
