Franciszek Piczek was commemorated by a sculpture at the Katowice Art Gallery on Grunwald Square. He stands there in good company with Zbigniew Cybulski, Aleksandra Śląska, Jerzy Duda Gracz, Stanisław Hadyna, Stanisław Ligoń or Wilhelm Szewczyk.
Francis Piczek died a year ago at the age of 94. He was a prominent theatre and movie actor. A large and wise Pole. Knight of the Order of the White Eagle. Without it, I can't imagine these films—the “Konopielka”, “The Life of Matthew”, “The Pearls in the Crown”, “The beads of 1 rosary”, “The Boys”, “The Promised Land”, “The Flood”, “The Closer, Closer”, “The 4 Armours and the Dog”, “The Wedding”, “The Austeria” and much more.
In 1 of the last interviews, he commented on our reality “A fewer years ago I decided that they would not be active in politics. On each side, we are attacked by further comments, which the authors seemingly aim to pierce the predecessor. They're talking about what spit on their tongues will bring, without thinking, without thinking. Let them form this planet according to their own ideas. Fortunately, I won't be utilizing this for long. At most I will look at them from above and have, as the Germans say, Schadenfreude, or the joy of misfortune," he adds. I don’t look at the net either.... These are sad times in which you can be anonymous and unpunished commenting, frequently hurting others. At times like this, I always remember a childhood in a village where there were alleged celebrated people. 1 of them said, “Please do not make the boards, look up and aim for the hole.” That is what these anonymous comments are for me.”
