On Sunday, residents of the confederate and western districts of Krakow, as well as the Old Town (district 33), will go to supplementary elections to the Senate. Almost 303,800 people are eligible to vote. 4 candidates apply for a mandate after Bogdan Klich (KO).
The election for March 16 was ordered by the president of Poland in connection with Klich's resignation as Senator. The multi-year MP KO became chargé d’affaires of the Polish Embassy in Washington.
On the ballot, the crackers will have 4 names: Adam Roman Berkowicz from the Confederacy, Mateusz Małodziński from PiS, Monika Jadwiga Piątkowska supported by: KO, PSL and Lewica and Ewa Sładek from the organization Together.
District 33 includes districts: I – Old Town, V – Krowodrza, VI – Bronowice, VII – Zwierzyniec, VIII – Dębniki, IX – Łagiewniki-Borek Fałęcki, X – Swoszowice, XI – Podgórze Duuchckie, XII – Bieszanów-Prokocim and XIII – Podgórze.
According to information from the National Electoral Office (KBW) in Krakow, the population is 303,772 (as of 9 March).
On Saturday, there will be pre-election silence. On Sunday, the vote will run from 7 to 21.
Monika Piątkowska is officially unpartisan, but is supported by the Civic Coalition. In the past, it was associated with PSL and Poland 2050. However, Simon Holown's organization did not support her in the upcoming elections – this means that Piątkowska is not a candidate of the alleged legislature pact. He presently serves as president of the Grain and Feed Chamber. He's a lawyer by education. On his Facebook profile, he gives Warsaw as a place of residence, while on the PKW website as a place of residence there is Kraków.
Mateusz Małodziński is simply a politician of Law and Justice, but he competes from the list of the officially unpartisan, civilian committee of KWW “For Krakow”. The Committee has the support of the Law and Justice and, as the politicians say, right-wing, patriotic groups. Małodziński was the Vice-Voivode of Małopolska from 2022 to 2023, and previously advisor to then Deputy Marshal of the Sejm Ryszard Terlecki and assistant to the Euro MP Beata Mazurek. He was born in Tarnobrzeg. He is simply a postgraduate of tourism and management. He is presently a associate of the board of the Małopolska Bus Stations.
Eve Sladek to the election put the organization together. She's an accountant by profession. She grew up in Krakow and spent most of her life here. 32-year-old works in 1 of Kraków's corporations, fluent in English and German. As he says, a feminist has always felt. Already as a teenager, she participated in demonstrations in defence of "women's rights", and present she co-organises specified protests. It works for LGBTQ people and for the rights of tenants.
Adam Roman Berkowicz belongs to the Confederation of Freedom and Independence. He is presently a councillor of the Sejm of Podkarpackie Voivodeship. On the PKW website, Trzciana is listed as his residence in the Bochen territory in Małopolska. However, the 68-year-old emphasizes his strong relationships with Krakow, where he studied at the Cracow University of Technology and then worked in respective institutions. besides today, as he points out, his activities related to this city are strong. 2 of his sons live in Krakow. Berkowicz, privately father of another Confederate politician – Konrad Berkowicz, by education is simply a railway engineer and dance teacher.
