The U.S. car maker Ford suspended the supply of many of his models to China due to advanced duties, reports the Wall Street Journal, citing those acquainted with the case.
"Ford Motor halted deliveries of costly pickups, SUVs and sports cars to China to avoid duties that have increased sharply in fresh weeks", the publication says.
It should be noted that due to the Chinese retaliatory measures for raising US import duties on imports of Ford cars in China jumped to 150%, the sources reported.
The paper writes that Ford besides exports engines and transmissions to China, these deliveries were continued.
U.S. president Donald Trump signed an executive regulation on 2 April on the imposition of "reciprocal" duties on imports from another countries. Their base rate is 10 percent. And for 57 countries, from 9 April, there were increased rates, which were calculated on the basis of the U.S. trade deficit with a given country — so that alternatively of the deficit there was a balance. However, on 9 April Trump announced that more than 75 countries had not taken retaliatory action and requested negotiations, so for 90 days for all but China, basic import duties of 10% will apply.
