You can't save Europe without women's voices. France knows that, and Poland?

On April 25, French president Emmanuel Macron in an exposé on the Sorbonne stated that Europe is mortal. She was delegating key areas to another countries that – erstwhile they felt stronger than her – changed the rules of the game. safety has been assigned to the United States, but it may turn out that China, which has been entrusted with producing everything from drugs to electronics, is more crucial to the United States than our continent. Russia was expected to supply us with energy security, and it turned out to be unpredictable and criminal, even food safety depends on imports, in addition to producers who do not comply with any standards.

Moreover, as the French president pointed out, "our sovereignty is threatened by large corporations" and "Europe becomes a tiny corner of the West". The threats are not only external, they besides weaken our addiction to games and the Internet, the intellectual problems of young people, the hatred on the Internet, which is uncivilized "like the jungle", and we let children in for hours a day. The crisis is besides manifested by the deficiency of a common European cultural identity, a common thought that as erstwhile was Enlightenment would be strong adequate to attract others. Meanwhile, "our children are moving distant from European culture, fascinated by nipponese or Korean patterns," said Macron.

From Lisbon to Odessa

But Macron didn't just scare. He started the speech with a reminder of common achievements: mobilisation during the pandemic, acquisition of vaccines, common debt incurred for development. As an undeniable and distinguishing accomplishment for Europe, he listed the AI marketplace regulation. These things seemed improbable even a fewer years ago erstwhile the brexit started. And that is what Macron is counting on: that, in the face of the threats, we Europeans will deepen integration, invest in our own European industry, take joint credit for its development, invest in the safety and production of weapons in Europe, build European armed forces of fast consequence and reconstruct self-respect.

The consequence is to respect and reconstruct Europe to its function of civilisation and intellectual. Divided “from Lisbon to Odessa” democratic values, the regulation of law, freedom and humanism specify Europe and we cannot let individual outside to impose borders on us," said Macron, announcing a phrase in relations with Russia, with which all negotiations have proved impossible.

Macron's speech, long, almost 2 hours, is the inauguration of the run before the European elections. The president thanked the EU administration, recalled his 2017 exposé, following a decisive referendum in the United Kingdom, erstwhile he besides advocated further integration, which seemed almost utopian, and yet what happened as a consequence of successive crises: the pandemic and now the wars in Ukraine.

Although these crises seem to be mobilizing on the Union, support for populist parties – far right, nationalist, seeking to blow Europe from the inside – is very high. The Marine Le Pen National Front has been ahead of the President's organization in the polls for months now, the AFD in Germany has as much as 15 percent support, the PiS in Poland is inactive in the first place despite the losing elections, populists have taken over the governments in the Netherlands, Finland and Italy, and the governments of Hungary and Slovakia are pro-Russian openly. There is simply a fear that the mobilised national populists will get the majority in the European Parliament and will begin to return to the "single" national states, quarreling with each other, helpless towards large companies that will not be able to defend the liberal values on which they grew. A Europe that is now “a continent of doubt” will plunge into depression.

Macron so challenged the doctrine of a self-regulatory free market, and proposed protectionism and sovereignty at the level of not individual states, but of Europe as a whole, so that it could guarantee its own safety and even think about standing in competition with another continents.

The fact that Europe divided into a number of small, ever-contrary states has no chance of rising global powers is nothing new. It may be interesting for us in Poland that Macron makes these observations and proposes strategies supporting integration, without a shadow of shame, uncertainty, explaining himself at all turn that he has no intention of destroying the French state or nation. It does not prejudge charges, it does not fuel fears, it does not look at the most bitter political opponents specified as Marine Le Pen, who want to “punish” him and “impose” him.

Macron's quotations after the Sorbonne speech did not improve, on the contrary, according to investigation Ipsos and ‘Le Monde“ The National Unity has the top support – 32 percent, then the presidential organization – 17 percent, but the polling consequence of the left coalition is besides expanding (14 percent). So where does Macron see a reserve of electoral votes that will give a chance to halt the income of nationalists and populists and let Europe to enter the next level?

Abortion “guaranteed freedom”

That reserve is women's voices. On 4 March, the French Parliament voted by 780–72 to include abortion in the Constitution as “a guaranteed freedom”. In view of the change in the explanation of the law after 50 years in the US, the ban on abortion in Poland and hindering access to it in another countries where the right is gaining power – the French women decided to safe their rights. Of the six proposals that were received by Parliament in 2022, there was yet 1 remaining after the amendments, for which even a large part of right-wing politicians agreed, who, like the Confederate, effort to keep their heads down and convince that everything is fine with them, that they think like the majority.

The parliamentary elections in our country have shown that fresh voices are needed to change, and in October these were the voices of women and young people, the most pro-democratic groups, whose welfare and safety are straight at hazard erstwhile back-up forces come to power. This is not just a Polish specificity. European elections in many countries have low attendance across Europe did not vote in 2019 until 47% of voters, which in turn means that there is mobilization potential.

Women are the electorate group whose laws are inactive regulated. They have lower wages, more work and care obligations towards dependents, and the marketplace is shaped under a figure standing on the another pole – a young, independent, well-earned man. In addition, women inactive do not have the right to their own bodies. Even in countries where abortion is allowed, there is simply a social taboo and open talk about it exposes to ostracism. Even in France, where abortion was decriminalized in 1975, there are areas where it is hard to find a doctor whose conscience does not interfere with the procedure.

Women's bodies depend on politicians, priests, doctors, most of them. Like once, the land the peasants had to grow was not theirs. And it is in the "property" of women in their bodies that the eventual return to their integrity lies the political potential, the chance for Europe.

No real equality was achieved at the threshold of Enlightenment, for demanding rights for women Olympe de Gouges was guillotined. The social possible of the French revolution in the planet was limited to men. For women only symbols remained for centuries: Marianna leading the people to barricades, the feminine figure of Freedom or Justice, Polk's parent giving her sons to death in ineffective liberation uprisings, or the very kind of the unusual grammatically and genderically word "homeland". And rather recently, in the slogans “Warsaw is simply a woman” or “Poland is simply a woman” – full of falsehood, due to the fact that there are no circumstantial laws following them.

But even the release of only half the possible – equality of men – gave emergence to a fresh era, allowed for a civilizational leap. Now it's time for another leap to unleash women's mobilization potential. Feminism, not fascism. The president of France noted this, and he pointed out this in his exposé. There will be no actual and strong democracy without women's right to their own bodies, without women's propriety in their own bodies. It's a substance of civilization.

This promise of epropriety is being made in Europe "We'll kind it out" campaign under the heading "My voice, my choiceInitiated by French Senator Melanie Vogel and Polish activists of the East and Women's Strike.

Conclusions from peasants

Polish Conservatives stand in line, hiding behind each other. They hope we don't know how many there are. You can't fool us. You just deficiency will, you want to keep your advantage against women. You don't want our equality. You want to keep your privileges.

It's nothing new. Another unsuccessful effort to improvement the country before the partitions was about the protection of number social group privileges. Countries that have done expropriation and equality of their citizens before have not lost their nationality.

Now, after the local elections, in which the PiS confirmed its position, due to the fact that there were no voices of young people and women, there were criticisms that enthusiasm and political reasoning were adequate for only 1 election in October. The patriots erstwhile complained about peasants who refused to defend their homeland. At the same time, they have been skimming the rights of peasants, just as now Polish conservatives, including those who want to be progressive liberals, are stinging them women. We are to vote, although the democratic government inactive tells us to die with our legs up for sepsis.

Active action for women's rights, carrying out a decriminal law as shortly as possible and then legalising abortion, the availability of all forms of contraception including sterilisation – this is simply a test for your pro-Europeanism and pro-democracy. Equal responsibility, equal rights. You have a period until the European elections.
