ABU DHABI— Etihad Airways (EY), the national airline of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), is marking India’s Independence Day with a limited-time discount campaign.

Operating from its hub at Zayed International Airport (AUH), the carrier is offering passengers in India 30% off fares to destinations across the United States and Europe.

Etihad Fare Cuts to the US and Europe

Travellers departing from major Indian cities can book reduced Economy Class tickets to cities such as Chicago (ORD), Toronto (YYZ), Washington DC (IAD), Barcelona (BCN), and Dublin (DUB).

Additional destinations include Brussels (BRU), Prague (PRG), Warsaw (WAW), Sochi (AER), New York (JFK), Rome (FCO), and several others. The offer is valid for bookings until August 15, with travel dates from September 2025 to March 2026.

The promotion covers a wide range of popular long-haul routes. Sample fares in Economy Class include Chicago at AED 3,273, Toronto at AED 3,599, Washington DC at AED 3,149, Barcelona at AED 2,036, and Dublin at AED 2,149. Other eligible destinations include Atlanta (ATL), Madrid (MAD), Boston (BOS), Paris (CDG), Munich (MUC), and Frankfurt (FRA).

Business Class and Economy Class travellers also benefited from Etihad’s earlier summer campaign, which offered 25% off fares on select routes. This Independence Day offer, however, extends the scope to more cities and a longer travel window, giving passengers greater flexibility in planning.

The fare reductions come amid heightened competition among UAE, regional, and Indian carriers as the 2025 summer travel season tapers off. Multiple airlines have rolled out aggressive pricing strategies to attract late-season bookings and lock in passengers for the upcoming winter travel period.

Fleet Developments

Etihad Airways recently launched commercial operations of its Airbus A321LR, a long-range single-aisle aircraft designed to deliver the airline’s premium cabin standards on shorter and medium-haul routes.

The inaugural flight, EY414, departed Zayed International Airport (AUH) for Phuket (HKT) last week, marking a milestone in the carrier’s fleet modernisation strategy. The A321LR offers cabin comfort and service levels consistent with Etihad’s award-winning widebody aircraft.
