DUBAI— Emirates Airline (EK) has enhanced its service offering by deploying its retrofitted Boeing 777 aircraft featuring Premium Economy cabins on select flights to Malé (MLE) and Colombo (CMB). This upgrade reflects the airline’s strategy to offer elevated travel experiences to customers on popular Indian Ocean routes.
Flights EK656/657 and EK660/661 between Dubai (DXB) and Malé, as well as EK650/651 to Colombo, will now feature refreshed four-class cabin configurations including the much-acclaimed Premium Economy seats.

Emirates 777 with Premium Economy
From 18 July, Emirates (EK) is expanding its Premium Economy product on two key leisure routes — Dubai to Malé (MLE) and Dubai to Colombo (CMB).
Flights EK656, EK657, EK660, and EK661 between Dubai and the Maldives are now operated using the airline’s retrofitted Boeing 777 aircraft.
These jets feature updated interiors and the new four-class layout, including the Premium Economy offering.
Similarly, Emirates flight EK650/651 between Dubai and Colombo will begin operating with the retrofitted Boeing 777 from mid-July.
This makes it the second daily flight to Sri Lanka to offer Premium Economy, complementing EK654/655, which uses the newer A350 aircraft already equipped with the four-class setup.
Premium Economy seating across these routes provides travelers with enhanced comfort, added legroom, and thoughtful cabin design, delivering a product positioned between Business and Economy classes.
