Behind Slovakia presidential election. Robert Fico won. I mean, Peter Pellegrini won due to the fact that he's going to be the fresh president, but it's not known from now on that he's a man with no spine and his own opinion. He frequently proved that Fica was willing to change his previously stated view. He's earned it. The nickname ‘društaška” which can be translated as “servant” or “puzzle”.
Pellegrini won not due to the weakness of his countercandidate Ivan Korčok, on the contrary. Following Korčok's triumph in the first circular of Fico and Pellegrini, they understood that they could not beat him without intense aid from utmost voters. As expected, Pellegrini managed to take over a large part of the anti-system votes of supporters of Štefan Harabin.
In the first round Ivan Korčok collected 958 1000 votes (42.51%), and Peter Pellegrini 834 1000 (37.02 percent). In the second, thanks to the advanced for the presidential election attendance of 61.1%, the second received 1,409,255 votes (53.12%) and Korčok by 165,546 less (46.87%).
The results of the presidential election are someway repetition of parliamentary election results of September 2023, in which the left-nationalist block besides had a somewhat greater advantage. Fico himself said he urged journalists to The articles on triumph were titled "the referendum on the exercise of power was successful".
Although initially it seemed that Ficy was completely indifferent to whether Pellegrini would get into the palace, in fact, his win makes a roller that runs through democracy and the regulation of law He'll be able to get a full speed.
Dirty Game
The run before the second circular of elections showed how much Fico and Pellegrini feared losing. With a cold run in which Pellegrini avoided debates involving opponents like fire, it became a truly dirty game. Under electoral law, no 3rd organization can agitate for a candidate, but coalition ministers and officials could not respect the existing rules. Deepfake films and photos were circulated through social media, and newspapers were sent to Slovak homes for the only right candidate.
Despite the prevailing electoral silence, social media of HLAS politicians Pellegrini and SMER Ficci filled fabricated photographs of the soldier with his parent crying over him – they all claimed that Korčok would send Slovaks to war with Russia. Although it is easy to find on the net videos on which Pellegrini himself says that only the government and parliament can decide to send soldiers to the front, he lied in the fight for the President's chair to people's face. The Slovaks believed the president had specified powers.
It will now be up to the Ministry of the Interior to decide on possible violations of electoral law. The head of the ministry is on behalf of HLAS and he himself paid for the commercials of films spreading lies about Ivan Korčok, so 1 can guess how this will end.
Only the constitutional majority is missing
Ficy did what he didn't do Babiš in the Czech Republic. This in the final presidential election played a card of alleged intent to send soldiers to war by his counter-candidate Peter Pavl. However, the Czechs, unlike the Slovaks, did not believe in this propaganda. Babiš lost.
The run in Slovakia clearly showed that Pellegrini, like Robert Fico, has about half the population. He was betting on lies and myths, pro-Russian sentiment and attacks on Slovakia's democratic partners. Followed with a textbook created by Orbánwhich says that we will not be ordered here by Brussels or paid by Western NGOs.
Fico has what he wanted – power in parliament and in the presidential palace. He couldn't win the presidency 10 years ago, now he's got his minion. The only thing he lacks to full happiness is the constitutional majority. It is not excluded, especially since despite the dissipation of state institutions, despite the protests of parts of society and threats directed towards journalists and judges, its support does not decrease.
