In his message on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of Poland's accession to the EU, Andrzej Duda pointed out worrying trends towards the federalisation of the Union and discussions on changes to the treaties that may limit the sovereignty of the associate States.

On Tuesday, the president recalled that 20 years ago, on May 1, 2004, Poland officially became part of the European Union.

"It was a very good day for Poland. respective generations dreamed of returning to the political community of the Western world, a united Europe, and this became our shared participation," the president said.

In addition, he stated that years of presence in the Union “is a large success for each of us.”

"Thousands of investment, excellent usage of European funds, expansion of Polish companies in Europe. Just look at how Poland changed at the time. We utilized this period perfectly" – said Andrzej Duda.

“But we are ambitious, we want to make further. We request large strategical investments, specified as the Central Communication Port, so that we can join the richest countries of Europe even faster," he stressed.

At the same time, the president noted that before Poland and before the EU "many safety and economical challenges".

“Our future depends on how we answer them. While in the Union, we can influence its shape, give key directions. Our voice matters. That's why we gotta prosecute Polish issues in the European Union all day!" he said. He besides recalled the words of Pope John Paul II: "Europe needs Poland and Poland needs Europe". According to the President, his words "are inactive up to date" and hence "we must actively participate in the formation of the Community, in accordance with the values we have professed for over a 1000 years".

In this case, Andrzej Duda stressed that we are presently "reliving a large dispute over the future form of the European Union".

"There are worrying trends in federalisation, there are amendments to the treaties that will limit associate States' sovereignty. Our presence in the European Union is simply a Polish state of affairs, but we advocate a Europe of free nations! Europe of homelands!” he stressed.

He besides pointed out that "the interests of EU bureaucracy and of any associate States frequently conflict with the Polish people" and "there is simply a conflict in the Union all day, a tough fight for the interests of individual countries and it is essential to search them effectively".

He stressed that the upcoming elections to the European Parliament would so be of large importance.

"What representatives we choose will depend on the direction in which the Union will follow, and how Polish matters in the Union will be conducted," he said, encouraging Poles to participate in these elections.

"Our presence in the European Union is part of our large story. The past of Poland, which is the past of freedom. Poland is safe today, it is developing dynamically, it has good prospects, but it is our past that teaches us that nothing is given erstwhile and for all. That is why our future and prosperity Homeland should be constantly pursued. This is our large commitment, which flows from large historical moments," he said.
