The German side is not curious in the construction of the advanced velocity Railways (KDP) from Berlin to Poznań," said Polish Deputy Minister of Infrastructure Piotr Malepszak. He estimated that for now our neighbors like to focus on solving problems with their own railway network.
In July, as part of the Polish-German intergovernmental consultations, the head of the infrastructure department Dariusz Klimczak discussed with his German counterpart, among others, the request to increase the number of rail connections between both countries and the improvement of railway infrastructure connecting both countries. Klimczak then pointed out the request to work on a common corridor for the KDP, which in the future will connect Berlin with Poznań and Łódź and Warsaw.
PAP asked the Deputy Infrastructure Minister Piotr Malebszak about possible advancement in Polish-German talks on the KDP corridor. – The German side is not curious in this subject, and during these talks it besides emerged that there was no interest in building anything from Berlin towards their east border – the Vice-Chief of MI acknowledged.
– If they are not interested, then the existing corridor that presently leads through Zbąszynek, Świebodzin to Rzepina and Frankfurt nad Oder needs to be improved. “Malebszak added.
It is asked whether improving the parameters of the current line besides means expanding the maximum velocity on it – now it is 160 km/h – the Deputy Minister denied. – We are talking about specified elements that will fundamentally let us to get from Poznań to the main station in Berlin in 2 and a half hours. This means that from Warsaw we would scope Berlin in just under 5 hours – he said.
When asked about the reasons for Germany's deficiency of interest in building KDP to Poland, Malebszak pointed out their problems with its own railway network. – They have a large problem with capacity, and they want to importantly increase the number of trains and passenger and freight. interior connections between major cities are a precedence for them, and connections towards our border are simply not specified a priority. – he said.
– I like to talk to the German side about reality. And the reality is, for example, the seventh train from Warsaw through Poznań to Berlin next year. And the second train from Gdynia via Bydgoszcz, Poznań to Berlin next year. It's about improving the offer. – he noted.
The Deputy Minister pointed out that in the last 8 years the number of passengers travelling by rail between Warsaw and Berlin increased by 80% and in the Poznań-Berlin relationship. – Therefore, if the subject is not considered to be a priority, we are doing what we should be doing on our side. We improve parameters, keep a good standard of existing line leading through Zbąszynek – he said. He added that after delays, the railway way between Berlin and Szczecin will besides be modernised. He besides informed that during his last gathering with the head of the German railway, the talks focused on what was real “from the position of the next 3 years”.
As part of the construction of the Central Communication Port between Warsaw and Łódź, the airport is to be established, and the strategy of the Railways of large Speed, the alleged Y, is to connect Warsaw with Łódź, Poznań and Wrocław. According to the assumptions, the fresh airport will start operating at the end of 2032 – simultaneously with the planned section of the KDP between Warsaw and Łódź. The way to Poznań is to be ready in 2035.
