For the 16th time, the weekly “Myśl Polska” co-organized Anti-war Debate involving scientists, experts and publicists. This time, it was held in Warsaw with the support of the Capital Polish thought Club and the Andrzej Lepper civilian Liberties Foundation.

Professor participated in the discussion. Stanislaw BielenDr. Edward Karolczuk (publicist, associate of the Association of Polish Marxists), Dr. Robert Potocki (politicist, Ukrainian scholar), Jan Engelgard (the editor-in-chief of “Polish Thoughts”), Adam Laughter ("Think Poland") and Dr. Mateusz Piskorski ‘Think Poland’ and the Channel Against the Censur). He led the debate Tomasz Chiliński (FSO A. Lepper).

Is Zelenski the president?

The first issue discussed by the debaters was the deficiency of legitimacy of the democratic president of Ukraine, Vladimir Zelenskiwhose word of office expired on 20 May. The Ukrainian authorities have decided not to hold elections within a constitutional deadline, which raises a number of doubts not only in Kiev, but besides in the capitals of the countries so far unequivocally towards Ukrainian favorable authorities.

"The political strategy in Ukraine is simply a war dictatorship. This war dictatorship means eliminating, above all, both in the public sphere, in the media and in the political power of all those who have not only different views on political choices, global strategies, but all those who have the courage to express their opposition.” – said Prof. Stanisław Bielen.

Dr Edward Karolczuk stated that legal issues in the current situation are secondary. "The problem is whose interests this power expresses. And present there is no question that oligarchy, Ukrainian oligarchy expresses the interests of global capital and is supported and exploited by this global capital. In addition, her position is very weak for today, this Ukrainian oligarchy in Ukraine” – he said.

Elections in Ukraine would not meet the criteria of democratic election, as Dr. Mateusz Piskorski pointed out. "The infrastructure enabling democratic procedures has been there, I put the thesis, destroyed long before the current phase of the armed conflict begins. It was systematically destroyed after 2014’ He said.

Mobilization, possibly mogulization?

On 18 May, an amendment to the Ukrainian Mobilization Act entered into force, which introduces a series of drastic measures aimed at the forced incorporation into the Armed Forces of Ukraine of thousands of its citizens not yet active on the front. The United States and another government patrons in Kiev are convinced of its importance and dimension.

"It would be a shame if these freshly baked graduates, who talk Polish, who are definitely useful in Poland already, would be a pity to send them unprepared to the front and, as a cannon meat, simply be subjected to what operations" – said Prof. Bielen, referring to his experiences academic lecturer with Ukrainian students.

“The Ukrainian reserves are coming to an end and the Ukrainians are doing everything they can to grow the army in a situation where this soldier is increasingly little numerous, more and little trained, with an expanding incentive to fight” – Dr. Potocki said.

"At any time a Ukrainian citizen surviving in Poland can be in Portugal for the second day. And look for wind in the field. Neither do I see here at all for them, for Kiev a good solution” – concluded Engelgard, referring to the Polish authorities' ideas of supporting the transfer of Ukrainians in draft age to Ukrainian command of additions.

Will Ukrainians stay in Poland?

Another issue of the last anti-war debate was the destiny of Ukrainians who came to Poland, especially those who were in our country after 2022. Most of the participants agreed that most likely the majority of erstwhile Ukrainian residents would stay in the countries to which they have emigrated in fresh years.

"This is primarily anti-Russia. This is the geopolitical asset. And land. We don't appreciate that. Demographic possible is no longer an asset for the West in Ukraine. due to the fact that all those who are active have already escaped. And Ukraine has 25-30 million, mostly older people” – said Jan Engelgard, describing the importance of modern Ukraine and the Ukrainian people for Kiev's political patrons.

Robert Potocki stated that “The problem of Ukraine is not territorial integrity and post-war borders, it is demographic potential, due to the fact that without it Ukraine will not rise. And in this context, regardless of the final result of the war, Ukraine suffered a full defeat".

Adam Laughter pointed out that the vast majority of Ukrainians surviving in Poland are indifferent to political and historical issues, dealing with prosaic efforts to materially safe their existence. "The obstacles will be the actions of the Polish state, which will effort to force them to make bigger Ukrainians than they are themselves, and of course there will be a part of the shrieking which we met, for example, at various ceremonies, or late at the mausoleum, on 9 May, which will simply join with its shriek to utmost Polish rusophobia and there will feel good" – he did.

The participants announced further discussions on the anti-war debate cycle, focusing on selected issues and threats related to the conflict in Ukraine.
