W The parliament is in a turbulent debate over a vote of assurance for the Donald Tusk government. The proposal was made by the Prime Minister himself, which, according to commentators, is an effort to show the unity and strength of the ruling coalition after months of intense criticism from the opposition. The vote is to confirm that Tusk's cabinet is inactive in favour of the parliamentary majority. However, for the opposition this is an chance for a frontal attack.
One of the strongest voices in this discussion was Przemysław Czarnek, associate of Law and Justice and erstwhile Minister of Education. His speech was sharp, emotional and full of accusations directed straight at Donald Tusk.
Czarnek accused the Prime Minister of acting against Poland, ignoring national interests and submission to Germany. He besides criticised government policy on education and energy issues. Below are passages of his speech:
“You were very tense and even frightened of courts, erstwhile you were reminded of your message Für Deutschland. But look at the facts you did not mention here.”
Czarnek referred to Tusk's controversial message from the past and recalled the actions of 1 of the ministers of the government who, in his opinion, were an insult to national memory:
"Well, Mr Prime Minister, the minister in your government, on the anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau, slandered Poles by saying that they were the ones who built the camps. You didn't respond to that, you underestimated it. The planet continues to talk about this statement."
He besides powerfully criticized the decisions of the Minister of Education concerning Polonia and national symbolism:
“The same minister abolished all dignity programs for Poles in the Ministry of Education to specified an degree that Polish children from Polish schools in Chicago this year had to fly Lufthansa, Prime Minister, to Poland, due to the fact that LOT gave them tickets 3000 PLN more expensive.”
The next point of the attack was the elimination of radioisotope production activities in Poland:
"You have eliminated the anticipation of Maria's reactor producing radioisotopes in 10% for the world. At the same time, who opens the production of radioisotopes? Germany.’
In summing up his speech, Czarnek posed a question that was expected to sound like an accusation:
"Mr Prime Minister, you left out the fact that you served German interests, not Polish interests in your speech. The question is, why don’t you take the honor and resign alternatively of making a stupid request for attention?”
The debate on the vote of assurance is not only a test of support for Donald Tusk's office, but besides a minute erstwhile deep divisions in Polish politics are revealed. The final vote will show whether the government will keep the formal support of the parliamentary majority – and for how long.
