Przemysław Czarnek, Vice president of Law and Justice, made it clear: Poland needs citizens prepared to defend the state. In an interview with Bogdan Rymanowski on ZET Radio, he said that "everyone should know how to defend Poland". His proposal includes compulsory training of all adult men.
The politician stated that he was not curious in restoring the essential military service in the form of the PRL. He reminded many years of conscripts in units and advocated limited training over time. However, he did not state his length, cost or rules on health, work and household situation. At this stage, it is simply a political declaration, not a prepared bill.
Czarnek connected the collection with the request to build reserves, further arms purchases and the creation of fresh units. He besides criticized the government for slowing down the formation of subdivisions. In the same conversation he presented aid for Ukraine as a tool for the interests of Poland. This is simply a coherent perspective: State safety must not be reduced to gestures and messages.
Law provides for 9 months of service
Polish government already includes a mechanics for launching compulsory essential military service. According to Articles 152 and 153 of the National Defence Act it is introduced by the president by regulation, on a proposal from the Council of Ministers. The Act indicates 9 months of service, with the government being able to shorten this time according to the needs of the Armed Forces, unless this threatens the defence or the safety of the State.
