The Civic Platform is experiencing interior shock after losing the presidential election. The media reports that Donald Tusk will no longer be organization leader in next year's parliamentary elections. Does that mean the end of the Tusk era in the PO?
A vote of assurance for the government, but then what?
The parliament expressed a vote of assurance for Donald Tusk's government by 243 votes to 210 against. The Prime Minister in his exposé acknowledged that he was facing a hard time:
– There is no earthquake, but let us call it by name: we are facing 2 and a half years of very hard, serious work in conditions that will not change for the better. The president who is reluctant to change what we have proposed to Poland and our voters will replace the president who is at least as reluctant to change and propose in August – Tusk said.
He besides announced the reconstruction of the government in July and the appointment of a government press spokesperson as early as June.
Crisis in PO – who will replace Tusk?
According to the reports "Wprost", the Citizens' Platform continues to search a fresh leader before the parliamentary elections in 2027.
- Tusk feels like he's not wearing any more. He sees how people respond to him. But there is no successor either, so he will stay in office until the election – says anonymous origin from the ruling coalition.
Another power camp politician stated:
– In the parliamentary campaign, Tusk will no longer be a candidate for Prime Minister. We gotta find individual else.
There is speculation that Radosław Sikorski may be the fresh PO president.
– There are theories that together with Roman Gierty and Michał Kamiński they game to overturn – reports the source.
Survey: Should Tusk leave?
According to United Surveys for Virtual Poland, 44.8% of Poles believes Donald Tusk should resign as Prime Minister. The other opinion 43.3%, a 11.9% There's no opinion.
Is this the end of the Tusk era in Polish politics?
