Clean transport zones mandatory!

Yesterday, the government adopted a bill establishing mandatory clean transport zones (STCs) in cities above 100,000 inhabitants if the emanation limit standards for nitrogen dioxide are exceeded.

This average level has so far been exceeded in 4 zones where the assessment of air quality is carried out, i.e. in Warsaw, Krakow, Wroclaw and Katowice, i.e. in these cities the zones of the ban on the entry of cars are mandatory. The size of the zones will be determined by local governments.

Under the current rules, “in order to reduce the negative impact of contamination emissions from transport on human wellness and the environment in the municipality, a clean transport region can be established” covering roads, the manager of which is the municipality, to which the entry of vehicles another than electrical or hydrogen-powered vehicles is prohibited.

As for urban communications, As of 2026, cities over 100,000 inhabitants will only gotta buy zero-emission buses.
