Marshal of the Sejm Szymon Holownia announced that he would sign a order prohibiting the entry of the Sejm into the territory of the Sejm.
The reason for the decision was the incidental that occurred on Wednesday — the policy of the Confederation of the Polish Crown destroyed an exhibition dedicated to LGBT+ people, organized in the seismic corridor.
— MEP Grzegorz Braun will not be allowed into the Sejm — announced Holovnia at a press conference. — I've informed the commandant of the Marshal's Guard. After the incident, fresh instructions were given to officers.
The exhibition, which caused controversy, presented LGBT+ themes and was exhibited in 1 of the seismic corridors. Grzegorz Braun approached the plates, took them off the relays and broke them. The event was recorded by the cameras, and in its course there was a Marshal's defender officer who tried to talk to the Euro MP but did not physically halt him.
Braun has not yet commented on Holowna's decision, but has previously stressed his opposition to the promotion of LGBT ideology in public institutions. In his surroundings, it is stressed that politics acted as part of a protest against content he considers harmful and inappropriate to a public space specified as the Sejm.
In consequence to questions from journalists, Marshal Holovnia pointed out that his decision was not of a political nature but of an order:
— This is not about assessing political views. It's about actions. Destroying anything in the Sejm cannot be tolerated.
However, there is no shortage of voices that Holownia's consequence can be seen as excessive and aimed at political exclusion of the controversial but elected in the democratic elections of the Euro MP. The case may find its continuation not only in the media but besides in the courts and European institutions.
Here is an article containing full statements by Krzysztof Bosak on the ban on entry for Grzegorz Braun and his assessment of the situation:
Bosak comments on Braun's ban: “I do not support destruction, but rainbow exhibitions should not be in the Sejm”
Following the decision of the talker of the Sejm, Szymon Hołownia, to ban the entry of the Euro MP Grzegorz Braun, Krzysztof Bosak spoke. In the radio conversation, he referred both to Braun's behaviour and to the LGBT+ exhibition itself, which was destroyed.
Bosak, although he distanced himself from the actions of his organization colleague, besides criticized the presence of this kind of exhibition in parliament:
— In my opinion, the Sejm is not a place for pranks and to destruct things.
When asked directly, does he condemn vandalism:
— I condemn behaviour that is against the rules and I besides condemn the making of ideological exhibitions in the Sejm, which fall into negative ideological trends. Both. – the RN leader replied
Bosak stressed that alternatively of promoting ideology, the Sejm should present Community and historical initiatives:
— I don't think there's much to do in the Sejm. It's better to do exhibitions that commemorate our common heritage. For example, I did an exhibition in the century of Polish gold to remind me of how we built our currency. In my opinion, this is simply a much better subject than filling the Sejm with Ukrainian flags, rainbow flags or another things.
He concluded by appealing for a civilised form of opposition to actions that rise controversy:
— Of course, we should argue and fight this by civilized methods.
