Boeing and Macquarie AirFinance 737 MAX Order

Macquarie AirFinance will expand its 737 MAX fleet to a total of 70 aircraft, providing airline customers with access to the most fuel-efficient narrow-body jets. This move reinforces the lessor’s commitment to sustainable, cost-effective fleet solutions.

Macquire AirFinance has a fleet of 335 aircraft, making it one of the largest aircraft leasing companies. It is valued at $9.10 and has a fleet that is dominated by the Airbus A320 family.

The purchase was initially recorded as “unidentified” in Boeing’s Orders & Deliveries system in July 2025. Deliveries of the jets are scheduled through to 2032.

Performance and Market Relevance

The Boeing 737-8 MAX can seat up to 210 passengers and boasts a range of about 3,500 nautical miles.

It achieves approximately 20% lower fuel consumption and carbon emissions compared to the models it replaces. The MAX 8 typically seats 162-178 passengers in a two-class layout, while it has a maximum seating capacity of 210.

The 737 MAX family now represents roughly 30% of all financed airplanes globally, underscoring its dominant role in lessor fleets.

Strategic Significance for Boeing and Macquarie AirFinance

For Macquarie AirFinance, the order is a strategic step in growth and modernization. CEO Eamonn Bane emphasized the aircraft’s fuel efficiency, reliability, and passenger comfort as key motivations. His following words echo this sentiment:

The Boeing 737 MAX offers exceptional fuel efficiency, reliability, and passenger comfort, making it an ideal choice for our airline customers worldwide. By expanding our fleet with these state-of-the-art aircraft, we are reinforcing our commitment to providing sustainable and cost-effective solutions to our partners, while supporting the future of global aviation.”

From Boeing’s perspective, this order highlights strong lessor confidence in the 737 MAX. Brad McMullen, Boeing’s SVP of Commercial Sales and Marketing, noted the vital role of the manufacturer’s leasing partners in expanding single-aisle fleets.
