On Saturday, June 8, 2025, the Warsaw police from the Patrol and Intervention Department stopped another taxi driver “on the app”, which acted against the applicable regulations. This time, the case was dealt with by a police station in Białołęka, where a regular traffic check took place on Picasso Street.
The behaviour of a 26-year-old citizen of Tajikistan, driving a Toyota-brand car, triggered suspicion in officers. At the sight of a police car, a man abruptly changed the path, which was the first informing signal for the patrol.
After stopping the vehicle and analyzing the data in the police system, it turned out that the man from mid-March 2025 had been subject to a judicial ban on driving any motor vehicles – applicable until September of the same year.
Is violating a driving ban a crime?
According to Article 79(1) of the Road Transport Act:
‘He who drives a vehicle without a driving licence or despite a judicial prohibition against driving shall be subject to fines, restrictions of liberty or up to 5 years imprisonment.’
In the present case, therefore, we are dealing not only with offences, but besides with criminal offences being prosecuted ex officio. The police stopped the man and led him to the police station at Myśliborska Street.
A breathalyst test showed that the man was sober, but that didn't change the fact that he broke the court order. In the course of the proceedings, investigators presented him with a charge of not complying with the judicial ban on driving.
For this crime there is simply a punishment for 5 years imprisonmentAnd the car was towed to a safety deposit car.
How to control the legality of the work of drivers “on application”?
Police urge that Bolt or Uber users be more aware and check driver documents, especially if their accent or behaviour raises doubts. The user has the right to ask for a card and confirmation of having adequate driving rights under the agreement with the taxi company.
Summary
The detention of a 26-year-old from Tajikistan is another example of the request for better supervision of abroad activities in the passenger transport sector. These issues affect not only road safety, but besides the quality of services offered by technology companies operating in Poland.
