PARIS- Air France (AF) has begun installing Starlink Wi-Fi on its aircraft, beginning with its Embraer E190 regional jets.
Passengers can access free high-speed internet by logging into their Flying Blue account. The internet service will be available across all cabins and will allow multiple devices per user for streaming, work, and messaging.

Air France Flights with Starlink Wifi
Starlink, SpaceX’s satellite system, offers ultra-high-speed and low-latency internet, delivering a “ground-like” experience in the air. The internet provider’s partnership positions Air France for Starlink was rolled out officially last year.
Starlink is SpaceX’s subsidiary, and provides connectivity even in transatlantic flights using a constellation of over 7,000 satellites in low-earth orbit.
Air France had announced in 2024 that it would offer “ultra-high-speed WiFi free of charge to customers in every cabin” from 2025, as it called this step “a major step in its move upmarket“.
Air France announced the installation of Starlink a couple of weeks after United Airlines had partnered with SpaceX on delivering the same product to its passengers.
United had said that the in-flight entertainment experience (provided by Starlink) would result in more personalized content across all seatbacks.

Air France’s Rollout Plan and Fleet Upgrades
It has been confirmed that Air France’s Hop Embraer E190 will be the first to feature Starlink. The installation process will then move to wide-body aircraft, including the Airbus A350 and Boeing 777 fleets.
Industry Experts claim that the A350 aircraft will be equipped with Starlink in the coming weeks, while 777 aircraft are expected to receive the upgrade during the fall season, though no official timelines have been established.
Until the rollout is complete, passengers flying on non-equipped aircraft will continue to see the existing Wi-Fi structure. This includes free messaging for Flying Blue members and paid options for browsing and streaming.
Once installation finishes, the entire fleet will eventually feature free Starlink Wi-Fi, replacing older systems.
Until the transition is complete, the airline is committed to offering a connectivity service on board aircraft that are not yet equipped, including a free ‘Message Pass’ for Flying Blue members and a paid offer that covers other needs.
In addition to being equipped with Starlink, Air France’s regional E190s were equipped with a new 2-2-configured cabin with Expliseat’s lightweight TiSeat 2X seats – a novelty for the carrier.
Passengers on the jet’s Business Class, which is isolated from economy class by a curtain, are also expected to have an empty seat next to them from October 2025.

Bottom Line
Some other major carriers that have transitioned to free Starlink Wi-Fi include United, Qatar Airways, Hawaiian Airlines, and SAS, among others. This shift marks a broader trend toward free, reliable in-flight broadband service.
By adopting Starlink, Air France strengthens its reputation as a premium full-service carrier.
The free Wi-Fi offering provides an additional incentive for travelers to join the Flying Blue program, which is the Air France-KLM group’s loyalty programme.
