Policemen from Bolesławca (Dolnośląskie province) detained 2 women who tried to pay for their purchases with counterfeit $100 bills. The intervention took place in 1 of the local stores, where the vigilance of the cashier rapidly thwarted the effort to cheat. The money utilized by women was marked with a clear red inscription "falsify" – which left no uncertainty as to their authenticity.
The detainees are African students, aged 23 and 33. Both have lived in Poland for respective years. At the time of the effort to pay with counterfeit banknotes, they worked together – each of them had 1 counterfeit banknote each and tried to pay their purchases together. The shopkeeper immediately realized that something was wrong, and she alerted the applicable services.

Police officers from the Bolesławec region Police Command came to the site quickly. Women were detained, and the safe bills were analyzed. During the hearing, the suspects claimed that they did not know that the money they utilized was false. They explained that they had allegedly received them as a payment for insignificant services, and this did not rise their suspicions. However, police take these explanations with large care, since each of the banknotes was clearly marked as false. Moreover, the way women acted can show that their actions were pre-planned. Investigators besides check whether suspects were associated with another akin incidents in the region. The court's decision was taken by women under police supervision. They are facing up to 8 years imprisonment for attempted fraud.
