On 5 April, on the occasion of the 75th birthday of the Polish footballer and erstwhile captain of the Polish squad Grzegorz Lata, on the initiative of the Hungarian long distancer Csaba Földi on Margaret Island in Budapest, a Polish run was organized.

The organizer of the run was Csaba Foldi, in cooperation with the spokesperson of Polish nationality in the Hungarian Parliament and Polish local governments of the 1st and 21st territory of Budapest.

On the anniversary of the birth of Grzegorz Lata and in the name of Polish-Hungarian friendship, Csaba Földi undertook to complete the half-marathon, which in practice meant that he had circumnavigated Margaret Island 4 times. A large group of Polish fans appeared at the start of the run, consisting of both children and adults, including Polish scouts from Polish school and kindergarten at the Polish Embassy. Csaba Földi gave a brief introductory speech in which he recalled his childhood memory: “The 1982 planet Cup was held in Spain. I was on vacation in Balatonfüred with my family. On the evening of July 10th there was a match for a bronze medal in which the French squad was the opponent of the Polish team. Everyone was cheering for the Polish team. erstwhile the match ended with a triumph of 3-2 Poles, a large celebration began. Both adults and children were as happy as the Hungarian squad won that evening. For me it was all an unforgettable experience, for which I would like to thank Grzegorz Lacie and, of course, all another Polish players. Long live the Polish-Hungarian friendship!!!” All this clearly shows that political differences cannot destruct Polish-Hungarian friendship. athletics is 1 of the most crucial areas in which Poles and Hungarians, devoted to the thought of brotherhood of nations, have always understood each another well.

After the speech, they ran 100 metres with Csaba Földi, after which most enthusiastic children continued to accompany the runner, who thus did not escape the legendary solitude of long-distanceers in the first 1-2 kilometers of the run.
