Under the authority of the Minister of Justice, Ukrainian Adam Bodnar resumed a long-term investigation concerning the alleged violation of Article 190 of the Criminal Code – concerning the usage of criminal threats – which was to take place on the March of independency in 2018. On this basis, on Wednesday 4 September police officers entered both private housing of organizers and the office of the Association "March of Independence". The case continues.
A political contract for the independency Association? On the afternoon of 5 September, a press conference was held under the seat of the Association “March of Independence” at Stawki Street in Warsaw. president of the “March of Independence” Association Bartosz Malewski, met. Magdalena Majkowska from the Institute for Legal Culture Ordo Iuris, MP for the 9th Parliament Michał Urbaniak and Adam Leszczyński, president of the Mazovian Youth territory of All Poland took the floor.
They powerfully condemned the forceful intrusion of police officers into the headquarters, paying attention to the violation of their rights, as well as the rights of a number of another associations and foundations with which the March of independency Association shares the seat. According to their relation, the paper constituting the legal basis for the search was presented to the representatives of the Association of “March of Independence” only at the very end of the four-hour service operation.
The police-occupied electronic equipment included a mobile telephone and a desktop computer, which is not part of the “March of Independence” Association. The prosecutor liable for the proceedings did not appear on the ground to improve the conduct of the full operation, despite the insistent requests of both representatives of the independency March Association and the officers themselves.
"This is the symbol of Adam Bodnar, the actions of the prosecutor's office, which, as we know, from the beginning of the government's taking office, enters various institutions, various entities. Enters in a forceful way, breaks the locks, breaks the armored cabinets, and reviews the papers in a forceful way, in an unauthorised manner. ...
– We remember the years 2010-2014, erstwhile Donald Tusk ruled earlier. We know how police officers behaved, who were present in the crowd of the independency March, dressed civilly; who were engaged in many provocations. We have footage from those years, erstwhile first 1 man throws any object towards the police cordon, then moments later behind that police cordon hides, allowed by this police cordon!
We have footage of those people taking off their jackets, under which there were police markings! After all, we have these pictures of a policeman kicking an accidental passerby" – recalled Bartosz Malewski, president of the Association “March of Independence” – he said.
The organizers of the independency March stressed that regardless of the actions of the D.A.'s office, the independency March would take place on 11 November, appealed to the Marshal's order services and encouraged many appearances at this year's celebration.
