The full failure of the 800+ program!

Despite expanding spending on family-friendly policies, the effects are dramatically mediocre - these are the conclusions of the latest government report, which openly acknowledged that the 800+ programme has raised a demographic disaster.

The draft budget for 2025 provides as much as PLN 97 billion for expenses related to family-friendly policy, of which almost PLN 63 billion will absorb the “800+” programme. This is the 3rd largest budget item.

What are the results? The inheritance in Poland in 2023 fell to 1.17 – even lower than before the introduction of ‘500+’ erstwhile it was 1.29. Spending on the “family” department increased from PLN 38 billion in 2019 to PLN 87 billion in 2024, yet the programme does not produce the expected results. The utmost poorness that the programme was intended to reduce was 6.6% in 2023, or more than before it was introduced.

Is that truly money well spent?
