The Border defender stopped a truck on 14 September 2026 on the Poznań section of A2 in which 34 migrants were hidden behind a peculiar wall. The vehicle had Lithuanian plates and abroad asylum papers from Latvia. Lithuania is to be turned over and both drivers are being investigated by the D.A.
Control of 2 vehicles on A2
Officers of the Border defender Service in Poznań-Ławica conducted the action on 14 September after information received from the Podlaskie Border defender Branch. On the Poznań section of the A2 motorway, they stopped a individual ford and a heavy-duty refrigerated Renault. Both vehicles had Lithuanian licence plates.
In the cargo section of the cold store, behind a specially prepared wall, officers found 34 people. The first media reports referred to 35 foreigners, but later official message from the Border defender Headquarters indicates the number 34. This is the service active and should be based on it.
Documents from Latvia and readmission to Lithuania
The detainees are citizens of Pakistan, Egypt, Somalia, Sudan, Ethiopia, Tunisia and Eritrea. They had documentary evidence of applications for global protection in Latvia. On completion of the operation, they are to be transferred to the Lithuanian side as part of the readmission.
These facts show the scale of the problem of secondary migration within the Schengen area. The application for protection in 1 country must not open an uncontrolled way for subsequent countries. Poland has a right to know who is in its territory, how it got here and where it is going.
The prosecution explains the function of drivers
The Border defender has announced that there are ongoing investigations against drivers. The case is handled by the territory Prosecutor's Office in the mediate East of Wielkopolska. At this stage, there is no reason to find their guilt or to attribute to them allegations which the authoritative communication does not mention.

Stopping on A2 wasn't an accidental success on the patrol. Information came from another branch of the Border Guard, and the action ended with the control of circumstantial vehicles. This is how the service should work: to exchange data, admit the way and halt transport before reaching the next border.
The scale of challenges is greater than 1 car. In the first half of 2026 Border defender revealed 10,836 persons residing in Poland illegally. Each successfully detected transport reduces the profit of the organisers, but does not replace the constant control of the main routes and cooperation with Lithuania and Latvia.
