In times of heaviest, erstwhile all instinct of national consciousness was suppressed and persecuted, Polish women sustained the love of their homeland: they taught at the ends of Polish speech and Polish pacier, defending the kid from demolition and detonation, they told the sons the past of Polish struggles and sufferings, they lit up in the hearts of youthful zeal and love for the wares and national heroes. “
